A Successful Career After Divorce

Chapter 885: Refusal

“Brendon…” Ranita stared at him, biting her lip.

“What’s wrong?” Brendon asked nervously, seeing her eyes redden. “What’s wrong?”

Ranita pressed her lips together, gently clenched her fingers, and shook her head. “I can’t agree to this right now.”

“Last time, I married into Boulderland Mansion without telling my parents. I can’t make such a decision again.”

“I’ll wear this ring once my parents agree.” Ranita refused him. Please check at N/ôvel(D)rama.Org.

Ranita didn’t sleep well that night, tossing and turning, thinking about the past, her years with Brendon, and the years she carried Ayaan.

Seven years had passed in a flash.

Sometimes Ranita blamed herself. She and Brendon had already missed four years; should they continue to waste time like this?

But now…

With the Bowman family in such a state and her work in Slovenia still unsettled, just thinking about it gave Ranita a headache. She didn’t know what to do.

After a restless night, Ranita struggled to get up the next day.

She felt a bit dizzy and had a stuffy nose.

But she still had to meet Brendon to sign the contract.

Because of what happened last night, Ranita felt a bit awkward. She kept watching Brendon’s expression after sitting down. Suddenly, he looked up and met her gaze, smiling slightly. “Is there something on my face? Why are you staring at me?”

Ranita’s cheeks turned red.

“It’s nothing…” she said awkwardly after a pause. “Last night, I… Are you mad?”

Brendon pulled out the contract and handed it to her. “If I were mad, would you have agreed?”

“Probably not!”

“Then there you go!” Brendon spread his hands. “Let’s finish business first! This is the contract drafted by the legal team here. Take a look.”

Stuart’s Corp contracts were always prepared by their fixed legal team and were quite standard. Ranita flipped through it and saw that the breach of contract clause had been modified to almost eliminate any losses for her.

“If I breach the contract, I won’t suffer any losses… This doesn’t seem right.” Although it was beneficial for her, the contract felt more like a goodwill gesture.

Brendon chuckled softly and handed her a pen. “We’re family; no need to be so formal!”

“Besides, if you really breach the contract, do you think I’d make you pay? It’d just be money moving from one pocket to another!”

Ranita huffed. “That’s not true! My money is mine! I don’t want your money!”

Despite her words, Ranita didn’t refuse the favorable terms Brendon offered. She signed the contract swiftly and handed it back to him.

Brendon put away the contract and gestured for her to come closer. “Come here!”

Seeing his proud expression made Ranita’s heart itch slightly. “What are you up to?”

As she moved closer, Brendon reached out and pulled her over.

Ranita was wearing a professional outfit, with long legs and a curvy figure. Her blouse made her look even more radiant.

With her smooth skin pressed against his leg, Brendon’s heart warmed. He wrapped his arm around her waist and murmured, “I’m a bit upset. Aren’t you going to comfort me?”

“Then… don’t be upset?” Ranita asked tentatively, her hands hanging around his neck in an intimate and ambiguous posture. Her heart pounded, and her breath became uncontrollably heated.

Brendon laughed at her adorable expression.

“You’re not very good at comforting people!” Brendon complained, then shamelessly brought his face close to her lips. “How about a kiss to make it better?”
