Alpha Knight’s Cursed Mate

NIRVANA

I was so terrified I thought I was going to lose Kailin. If she was only human, she might not make it.

I cried the entire time in the shower, washing off her blood on my skin. Watching her on the ground with blood all over her chest was the scariest thing I’d ever felt.

I walked out of the bathroom with a towel wrapped around me. Knight was sitting on the edge of the bed, seemingly in deep thought.

“I’m going to the sight where Kailin got shot.” He didn’t even look at me. I didn’t know if he was blaming himself or if he thought that bullet was meant for me.

“I’m coming with you.”

His head snapped in my direction, eyes narrowing at me. “No way.”

“Okay.”

He seemed surprised by my reply.

“What? After what happened to Kailin, I won’t be reckless anymore. Going to the tasting room was not reckless, and I thought we were safe here in the vineyards.”

“Good.” He took a deep breath. “I’ll take Dane with me. We might check out where the shooting happened.”

“I was thinking the same thing. But, please, be careful.” I knelt before him. “I had enough fear in me. I don’t think I can’t take it if something happens to you. Do you understand me?”

He leaned down to kiss my lips. “You won’t lose me. I promise.”

I nodded, even if my chest was still heavy. He might heal fast, but things out there were dangerous enough when magic and the virus were involved. “Okay. I’ll be with Kailin shortly.”

“I’m glad he stayed.”

“What do you mean?” I put my underwear on. I was opening the drawer to get my bra when I felt him behind me.

He kissed my shoulder, and his hands snaked to my chest, cupping my breasts through the towel.

“I miss you,” he whispered as he moved his lips up to his mark on my neck, then flicked his tongue over my earlobe.

I pressed my thighs together and stifled my moan as the towel fell down my knees and his fingers rolled my nipples.Contentt bel0ngs to N0ve/lDrâ/ma.O(r)g!

“I still owe you.” His voice deepened, and he could probably smell my arousal.

“Maybe later.” I ached for him, and he knew that, but there were so many things to do, and sex could wait. He would understand my resistance.

“Fine, but I will fuck you three times tonight.” He groaned and breathed deeply, freeing my breasts from his hands.

“Gee.” I put on my bra, a shirt, and a pair of jeans. “You should go.”

“We’ll go down together. Dane is probably still with Kailin.”

After the successful operation, she began healing. Any magic or spell did not lace the bullet taken from Kailin, but it was a rifle used by snipers.

We headed down to the infirmary. The first person I saw was Dane, his hands on his hips, glaring down at Kailin.

“Oh, my God. You’re awake.” I ran towards her bed and hugged her tight until I realized she was in pain. “I’m sorry.”

“It’s fine.” She still looked pale, but I was glad she was healing well.

“You scared me.” I kissed her forehead. “I’m so glad you’re okay.”

“Tell her to stay put because she’s stubborn and wouldn’t listen to me,” Dane said firmly.

Kailin narrowed her eyes at her mate. “Why would I listen to you? Why are you even still here?”

“Hey. Will you calm down? You may heal fast, but you lost a lot of blood. And he’d been with you since I brought you here.”

“She woke up and cursed the fuck out of me. She’s volatile like she’s in heat,” Dane spat, took his jacket on the chair, and was ready to leave.

“How dare you?” She grabbed the glass of water. Before she could throw it to Dane, I held her wrist. She hissed in pain, letting the glass go.

“What are you doing?” I started to get pissed with her attitude. Dane might have chosen a dangerous job, but that was his job. “You can’t just do something like that to Dane because he’s not the man you dreamed of.”

“I can’t believe you just said that to me.” Now, she was throwing her anger at me.

“You pushed me and begged me to give Knight a second chance because you care for your cousin and can’t watch him suffer from my rejection. I considered that because of you.” I huffed. It was still fresh to me how hard it was watching Knight suffer because of what I did and said. I was done convincing her. “Make your own decision, Kailin. Now, if you hate Dane this much, I dare you to reject him in front of me and your alpha.”

“Nirvana, what are you doing?” Knight sounded alarmed.

“Nirvana, please, don’t.” I heard the pain in Dane’s voice, but I needed to dare Kailin so she could shut up and respect her mate instead.

“She hates him. I want to witness rejection for the first time. Do it, Kailin.”

She looked taken aback at what I said. She glared at Dane before she turned to her side, grimacing when she put pressure on her wound.

“I thought so. Here’s what I want you to do. Show some respect to your mate and show how you respect everyone around here.”

“I hate you,” she said firmly.

“You can hate me all you want, but I’m trying to save you both.” I faced Knight, who had a small smile on his lips, while Dane seemed relieved. “So, you’re gonna go check out the place?”

“Yeah.” Knight nodded and looked at Dane. “I might need a gun.”

“Make sure it’s not registered to your name,” Dane said.

“Yeah, I got one.”

“Dane, please look after him.”

“With my life. And look after her while we’re gone.” Dane stole a glance at Kailin.

“Don’t worry.” I patted Kailin’s arm, smiling. “She’s in good hands.”

“We have to go.” Knight kissed me on the lips. “Love you.”

“Love you. Be careful out there, baby.”

Knight had already walked to the door, while Dane seemed to have something to say to Kailin.

I gave him a smile of encouragement as I rose to my feet and went to Knight. “They’re gonna be okay.”

“Good job, sweetheart.”

“Good job? I don’t think so.”

Dane cleared his throat. “We’re going to check out the-”

“I heard everything,” Kailin grunted. That was a good start. “Just don’t die out there.”

I grinned at Knight. “That’s what I call a good job.”

Once they left, I sat back in the chair, and I heard her sigh and say, “You’re such a bitch.”

“A powerful bitch.”

She finally turned and faced me. Her smile felt like a grateful one. “I thought I was going to die. His scent was too powerful when I woke up, and his presence gave me strength. It was wild. I couldn’t hate and reject him. I’d never felt something so powerful I couldn’t resist. I’m a strong woman, Vana. I always did what I thought was right and followed what I wanted in my life, but this? This mating bond hits me differently. It’s driving me insane.”

“I felt that, too, K. Before I found out about who he was and about mates, every time I looked into his eyes, he was like a magnet. I felt compelled that I couldn’t resist. He was like a magical being, a celestial that I didn’t want to let go of. Maybe if he kissed in the vineyards that night, I might let him take me behind the tree.”

She barked out, laughing, holding her wound, and tears forming in her eyes.

“Wow.” I stared at her in disbelief. “So my embarrassing story is the only thing that brings your mood back?”

“Shut up.” She rolled her eyes.

“Your mate is hot, by the way.”
