Chapter 109: A Painful Comparison
Lucas stood at the airport feeling anxious and a little suffocated even though the airport was not crowded. Glancing at his watch, Lucas sighed at what he had gotten himself into. Working with Khloe was a piece of cake, apart from her whining, it had been relatively easy. But now? Now he had become part of Khloe’s plan to be Kylie’s agent. He doesn’t want to handle this woman; however, he can’t refuse Khloe’s request.
Speaking of the devil, Lucas muttered to himself. Right at that moment, Kylie, followed by Faith, walked out of the terminal. Lucas was standing in direct sight of them, but they ignored him and continued walking towards the exit. He quickly got annoyed by the way they treated him.
“What the fuck?” Lucas whispered to himself, being mindful of the kids standing a few feet away from him. He ran outside, but Kylie and Faith were nowhere to be found.
Outside the airport, Kylie received a call from Lucas when her car had just started, “Kylie Finch, don’t tell me you did not see me while walking out of the terminal!?” He ranted at her immediately when he was able to catch them.
“Aren’t you, my agent now, Lucas? Are you not the one who’s supposed to keep track of me?” Kylie replied nonchalantly.
“Cut the crap Kylie, and I’m not playing. It’s impossible that you couldn’t see me!” Lucas replied angrily.
“Well, I thought you were waiting for Khloe because you’re her agent, too,” Kylie replied, questioningly, fully knowing the answer. She knew that this guy doesn’t have good intentions for her.
“You…” Lucas started but could not say a word in response. He had intended to let Kylie know who the boss was around here, but he deliberately stopped himself. He was burning to let Kylie know that no matter how the outside world saw her, Khloe was and still is the one and only important figure in Garcia Entertainment. Initially, he had planned to ask Kylie to wait with him until Khloe’s flight arrived (which was just an hour after Kylie’s landed) so they could both go back home together. He can’t leave immediately without waiting for Khloe.
“Okay, just go home then! Your father is expecting you.” Lucas finally replied. If he portrayed himself to be the enemy towards Kylie, she would never trust him. He had to be patient. He also had to pretend to be kind in front of her because he and Khloe had plans. He shouldn’t mess up because he knows what the consequences will be when he makes a mistake.

Kylie hated going back ‘home.’ However, despite the people living inside, she still had many good memories in the house she had grown up in, especially memories of her beloved mother. Those times she’d stayed here with her Mom, reminded her that she belongs to this family. Trying to shake herself from getting too emotional, Kylie squared her shoulders and walked towards her father’s office. Since he was expecting her, Kylie saw Laurence sitting behind his chair, reading something on a paper.
“I’ve heard, Mr. Finch, you want to do me a favor.” Kylie coolly sat on the leather couch, taking off her high heels, and placing her feet on the coffee table. She did not miss her father’s annoyed look when he saw her bare feet leaving prints on the impeccably clean table. This belongs © NôvelDra/ma.Org.
Laurence put aside his papers and looked towards his wayward daughter trying hard to not lash out on her to take her feet off his table.
“Just a cover shoot, and you’re exhausted already, Kylie?” Laurence sarcastically spoke up.
Kylie ignored her father’s opening statement. She was used to it, and the way he treated her is nothing new, “What have you signed me up for? Movie, TV show, or network show?”
“Kylie Finch!” Laurence slammed his files on his desk. “Look at you. Is this your attitude of being a daughter and a representative of Garcia Entertainment? Why can’t you behave like Khloe, who is considerate, kind, and cares about her family…”
“Oh, she’s your daughter, isn’t it?” A mocking smile drew on her face.
Kylie looked down and started to rummage through her purse to avoid letting her father see the hurt on her face.
But I should be used to it now, shouldn’t I, Kylie mentally scolded herself. The taunts and comparisons of her to Khloe were an old story now. She always heard it from his beloved father. Often, this man doesn’t show his love to her. Finally, grabbing a cigarette from her bag, Kylie slipped it in her mouth.
“Well, if I was like Khloe, wouldn’t you get bored?” She spits it out immediately.
“Kylie Finch, I’ve done everything for you as a father!” Laurence looked at her like she was a stranger to him, “I’ve given you a chance, and now it’s up to you whether you can really achieve something! Don’t spread rumors saying to me, and your father oppresses you in our company.”
Kylie raised her eyebrows and stared at Laurence. She could say so many things in response but decided not to go down the same road.
“Speaking of this chance that you have given me, do you mean the pirated TV show?” Kylie sarcastically responded.
“What pirated TV show? You should be thankful for having the chance given your ability right now.” Laurence sipped his coffee and snarled at Kylie. He then looked at his watch, “I need to deal with some business. You can leave now. Lucas will be your agent for now. You must listen to him, do you understand?”
Kylie removed the cigarette and placed the unlit butt in the ashtray, “You know father, you were always really religious. Just remember, God is looking at you…and I sure hope you don’t regret your decision!” Kylie added and then turned around, walking out of Laurence’s office. It was at this moment when Kylie decided to take her mother’s company, Garcia Entertainment, back from her father and the two vultures he called his wife and daughter.
