Chapter 401

A tearing sound could be heart.

Linda’s expensive silk chiffon dress could not withstand the opposing forces pulling in different directions, and in an instant, it was torn apart.

Her body, clad only in black underwear, was exposed to the crowd below and then crashed onto the life–saving cushion.

The height from which she fell was not enough to cause injury

However, she fell sideways. Before she dropped, her body had still been hunched over the railing. When she hit the cushion, her body landed in less than two seconds, leaving her no time to wave her hands or stretch her body.

And then, an even more tragic event occurred.

As she fell, her body collided with the protruding waistline of the outer wall. Where she landed on the cushion, her already. bent right arm and right leg were pinned underneath her.

She only heard a “crack, followed by a sharp, excruciating pain in her elbow.

She was in so much pain that her face turned pale, letting out a painful groan. She tried to scream for help but could not, only twitching like a lifeless fish.

But she did not lose consciousness. The unbearable pain even kept her awake.

She heard concerned and ambiguous exclamations around her, saw countless people frantically snapping photos.

And among the chaotic crowd, she caught sight of Jaden.

Wearing a mask, he stood at the front with his hands in his pockets, looking through the crowd with cold indifference. His a gaze was devoid of any nervousness or concern, as though he were staring at a stranger about to die.

Their eyes met.

Jaden took off his mask and flashed her a cold smile, like a demon revealing its true form.

At that moment, Linda’s pupils suddenly dilated. Her whole body turned cold, and fear and bone– chilling coldness rushed from the soles of her feet to the top of her head, devouring her.

She understood everything.

Jaden did it on purpose.

He deliberately ignored her calls, deliberately hid in the crowd, and intentionally delayed things, waiting to see her fall.

When she was about to fall due to exhaustion and dizziness, he seized the opportunity to call her phone, distracting her and adding insult to injury.

Realizing this, tears streamed down her face.

As the rescue team approached with a stretcher, Jaden suddenly yelled, “Linda!” and rushed out of the crowd. He threw himself onto the air cushion, holding her upper body, tears falling onto her face.

Linda, why are you so stupid?” Jaden said, his voice filled with concern.

“You’re still young. Even if your husband dies and you have no one to rely on, you can’t go to a dead end…” Jaden continued, his words trying to reach her.

Linda’s eyes were wide open, and she made a muffled sound in response, struggling to comprehend.

Jaden was actually pinching her broken elbow hard. The pain made Linda’s tears flow, and she felt like she was really going

to die.

She tried to push Jaden away with her other hand but couldn’t lift it.

Jaden brought his face close to the top of her head as if crying a whispered softly in her car, “If there’s a next time. I’ll make it real and make you wish you were dead. Text © owned by NôvelDrama.Org.

Linda’s heart nearly stopped from the fear.

At this moment, she truly understood Jaden and regretted it.

She regretted giving up Jaden for money back then.

She regretted even more that after betraying him, she still wanted to win him back, constantly pestering him.

However, it was too late for regrets. She had paid the price.

“She’s injured. You can’t touch her. Let go of her quickly!” The rescue team shouted at Jaden.

“I’m sorry!” Jaden let go of Linda while discreetly pinching her elbow hard. He said sincerely. “It’s been hard on you guys.

Please save her!”

Linda fainted from his grip.

Before losing consciousness, she thought to herself, Jaden… is a devil.

Jaden followed the ambulance to the hospital. After completing the hospitalization procedures, he waited outside the operating theater.

While waiting, he called Luna and explained Linda’s situation. “I had to stay until her surgery is over. I hope you don’t misunderstand that I still have feelings for her.”

He did not mention the secret of how he had deliberately stalled, waiting to see Linda jump off the building.

Luna had long heard about Linda from him and did not think Jaden still had feelings for her. She said angrily, “Do you think I don’t know who you are? What kind of person do you think I am? Why would I care about her spreading rumors or moral blackmail?”

“I just hope you don’t push yourself too hard. If you can’t take it, leave.

Jaden smiled and gently replied, “After this incident, she has already thought it through. She won’t pester us anymore. Once her surgery is over, I will leave.”

After ending the call, he clicked on the trending topic.

The high–definition image of Linda wearing only underwear and jumping off the building was everywhere, ranking high on trending topics.

He also appeared in photos and videos, but because he deliberately avoided the camera, no one managed to capture his

face.

He used his alternate account to post Linda’s personal information and the fact that she married a wealthy older man and became a stepmother at a young age, fueling the fire.

He believed that when Linda woke up and discovered that her “lady” image had been publicly humiliated and her background exposed, she would be utterly ashamed and furious. He figured she would probably avoid people for a long

time.

He was also certain that Linda would never, and would not dare to come looking for him again.

Two hours later, Linda’s surgery was completed.

The doctor said that her right elbow was dislocated and severely fractured, with an obvious fracture in her right knee and some superficial abrasions. These could all heal, but her right hand would take

a long time to recover. Even after it healed, she could not engage in any nous exercise, exert force, or stain herself.

Jaden thanked the doctor, pre–paid the medical fees, and hired caregiver for Linda before leaving the hospital.

Linda would wake up soon. When she did, she would contact he family and friends. He did not need to meddle in her affairs, so he blocked her number.

As expected, what followed was just as he had anticipated.

Linda never contacted him or anyone from the Donovan family again. The news about her jumping off the building online- was completely removed, and she did not reach out to the media or hired influencers to spread any more stories about her and him.

Linda had finally disappeared from his life without a trace.
