Chapter 23
Chapter 23
There’s more to Grace’s background than meets his eye.
Just as this thought crossed Edgar’s mind. Tim had already hailed a cab to the scene. He was taken aback to see people sca t t e r e d around, unconscious, and he let out a long sigh.
Mr. Fallen was really ruthless!
Edgar glanced at him, “Perfect timing. Bag up these gangsters and take them back for questioning. Find out who’s pulling the strings”
“Understood.” Tim nodded.
“Also, send someone to dig into Grace’s background, I want all the details.”
“Roger that, Mr. Fallen.”
By the time Grace returned to the villa, it was already late.
Patric was waiting for her on the couch.
Grace told him about the night’s events, not leaving a single detail out, which caused Patric to see red. He immediately dispatched people to launch an investigation.
On the car ride home, Grace mulled over the incident.
Apart from the person from the Smith family who had harmed her, Grace didn’t have any known enemies. However, if that person knew her whereabouts, they wouldn’t just send a few small fries to insult her and record videos
This was more like the style of the Fallen family. She didn’t believe Edgar would be impartial after uncovering this. It would be good to get one of Patric’s men to investigate.
After taking a bath, Grace hit the hay.
The next morning, Grace arrived at the company on time. Having familiarized herself with the materials the day before, she was now ready to start managing the artists’ schedules. Lucy was astounded by her quick grasp of things and no longer dared to deliberately make things difficult for her.
After a calm and peaceful morning, Grace stretched languidly, her mood exceptionally light. However, after lunch, the office door was slammed open by someone.
Lucy barged in, with an angry expression.
Grace frowned, “Ever heard of knocking, Ms. Gordan?”
Lucy didn’t respond to her, instead, she thrust an iPad in front of her, “Look at the fine mess you’ve made!”
Grace took the iPad and saw a photo of their own artist, Tom Walker, throwing a tantrum on set. Fortunately, his agent had intercepted the photo, or else it would be circulated and people would accuse her artist of throwing his weight around.
Grace was speechless. Tom made such a big fuss just because she got another actor to replace him due to he was so playful and didn’t want to act.
“Tom’s a popular idol, all because of one day off, you had to replace him! Now you’ve poked the bear, I won’t help you clean up this mess!”
Lucy crossed her arms and coldly snorted as she said sarcastic words.
Grace closed the iPad, grabbed her car keys, and walked out.
Lucy ran after her, asking, “Where are you going?”
“To the crew.”
Hearing this, Lucy hurriedly followed.
Tom, this notorious hell-raiser in the company, was infamous for his volatile temperament, and his repertoire of dirty tricks seemed never-ending. Lucy was chomping at the bit to see Grace on the receiving end of his wrath.
Lucy would then bring this up in a meeting, eager to see how long Grace could keep her director’s chair!
Tom’s TV series was bankrolled by Angle. It was still in the early days of shooting, with the crew on set at Holywood in Frant City. Grace and Lucy hot-footed it there in a mere half an hour.
Upon their arrival at the crew, they were met with the ear-splitting sound of a chair crashing to the ground.
As they got closer, they spotted a handsome eighteen-year-old man in the throes of a temper tantrum.
His agent and assistant were so petrified that they dared not breathe a word, and the rest of the crew kept their distance. Belongs to © n0velDrama.Org.
Only the cleaner, appalled by the mess he’d made, stepped forward to intervene.
“Young man! Look at the mess you’ve created! Just because your family is loaded doesn’t mean you can run amok like this!”
But the furious man was having none of it. He picked up a vase, prepared to smash it, his arrogance palpable. “Exactly, my family is loaded! If I dare to smash it, I can foot the bill. This is none of your business!”
“You can’t smash this!”
The director, keeping his distance, felt helpless, his heart bleeding.
That was a Yuan Dynasty blue-and-white porcelain vase, a piece of a priceless treasure that he had specially borrowed to ensure the props were accurate and exquisite. Smashing it would be more than just a financial blow!
As Tom’s hand rose menacingly into the air, fear was written all over everyone’s faces.
With a contemptuous snort from Tom, his arm was seized just before he could bring the vase crashing to the ground.
He turned around in surprise to find Grace’s icy gaze fixed on him.
“Put it down and apologize!”
At that, Tom let out a scornful laugh. “Who are you? How dare you make me apologize?”

Lucy hastily broke in with an amicable explanation, “Mr. Walker, this is Miss Salen, the new agency director who started just yesterday. It was her who rejected your leave request this time. I tried to talk her around, but she insisted you were shirking your duties, and was adamant about replacing you.”
At that, Tom’s forehead veins popped out, his eyes shooting daggers at Grace.
“So it’s you who stirred the pot! I’ve been acting for two days. What’s the crime of taking a break? You’re only on your second day and you dare reject my leave!”
Seeing that Tom’s fury was completely directed towards Grace, Lucy felt a pang of schadenfreude, quietly backing away to watch the unfolding drama.
Grace couldn’t be bothered to engage with him. “One last time, will you apologize or not?”
Tom couldn’t restrain his anger. “I don’t lay a finger on women, but you’ve really asked for it this time!”
Everyone hearing this could almost visualize the gruesome scene they expected to unfold within a minute. They collectively dropped their gaze, not wanting to witness the scene. But, the expected sound of violence didn’t materialize. Instead, it quickly fizzled out. Instead of Grace’s scream, they were met with Tom’s blood-curdling yell.
“Ouch, let go! My arm is almost dislocated!”
Everyone turned in surprise to see Tom flat on his face, hands cruelly twisted behind his back by Grace. His awkward pose on the floor, butt propped up by Grace’s high heel, was a sight for sore eyes.
His pained howls contrasted hilariously with his furious expression.
In contrast, Grace, with her ice-cold expression, drew cheers from the crowd.
Even his agent and assistants were gobsmacked by her audacity, momentarily forgetting to intervene.
Embarrassed by the spectacle he had become, Tom wished for the earth to swallow him whole. His animosity towards Grace intensified.
“Do you even know who I am? You dare lay a hand on me! You’ve dug your own grave!”
Lucy, horrified, tried to intervene. “Let him go! He’s the second son of the Walker family of Frant City! How could you hit him!”
The Walker family, albeit distant relatives of the Smith family, were small fry among the major families in S City. Their influence was limited to Frant City.
Not only did Grace not let go, but she also kicked Tom’s butt even harder.
Tom immediately howled in pain.
Seeing Grace disregarding her warnings, Lucy stomped her foot in a mix of frustration and pleasure. “You’re toast, Miss Gordan! Don’t say I didn’t warn you!”
Grace was completely indifferent to her, looking down at Tom squirming under her foot.
“You little twerp, had enough? We’ve not seen each other for a few years, and you dare to act big?”
Hearing her tone, Tom found it oddly familiar. He strained to turn his face from the ground
and scrutinized hers.
His expression swiftly shifted from agony to shock.
“You’re… Grace?”
Grace grunted, “Remember now?”
Tom nodded vigorously, “I’m sorry, Grace. If I knew it was you, I wouldn’t have dared act big! Please let me go! I’m in pain!”
Grace then finally released him.
Tom dusted himself off, still grimacing in pain, but managed to smile flatteringly as he
ushered Grace into a chair.
Everyone was left dumbfounded by the sudden turn of events.
What just happened?!
What happened to the promised showdown? What happened to the promise that Grace would die?
Could this bootlicking man truly be that previous enfant terrible, the second young master of the Walker family?
