No sooner had Alpha Kilian returned with Tony and Ben than they bumped into Spencer. When the two boys got out of the car and spotted him, they looked around.
“Where’s Thalia?” Tony asked.
Spencer pursed his lips, a glimmer of helplessness flashing across his eyes. “I lost her.” Tony and Ben frowned.
Before they could say anything, Alpha Kilian climbed out of the car. His brows knitted together when he saw Spencer.
Inhaling deeply, Spencer turned his gaze to Alpha Kilian. “How did it go? Is there news of Nelly?” “There are some leads,” Alpha Kilian replied in a low voice.
“Is she okay? She’s not hurt, is she?” Spencer inquired.
At that, Alpha Kilian leveled a look at him. The dark night made him appear taller and more imposing. “If you had shown such concern for a certain person, things would’ve been different now.”
Spencer knew who he was referring to, but he ignored it. “Why are you still jealous of me when I’ve known Nelly for years?”
“You know that’s not what I meant.”
Spencer looked away before shifting his gaze back to Alpha Kilian. “Your next treatment is in two days. I want to go out and explore before then. I’ll be back in two days.”
They were both grown men, so Alpha Kilian naturally wouldn’t interfere too much. He nodded. “Okay, got it.”
“If you need any help from me, contact me anytime,” Spencer offered. Once again, Alpha Kilian nodded.
Then, Spencer turned to the two boys. He smiled before leaving. “You-”
Ben was about to speak, but Tony held him back.
Tony glanced back, only to see Ben shaking his head at him. “What about Thalia?” he asked.
“We’ll ask her first before taking any action. Anyway, he’ll be back in two days,” Tony said.
Spencer’s back looked inexplicably lonely.
Ben knew that relationships depended on the parties involved, regardless of the advice or counsel offered by outsiders. With that thought, he sighed and gave up in the end.
Tony then turned his gaze to Alpha Kilian. “Come and stay with us over there, Daddy. It’s closer to the place Nelly mentioned. That way, we can even go together tomorrow!”
Alpha Kilian frowned.
“Let’s go! Alpha Dave is there. Now that Spencer has left, you’ll be bored staying here alone,” Tony said, stepping forward and tugging at him.
Alpha Kilian had no choice but to leave with the two boys since he couldn’t resist their insistence.
Only after returning to the hotel and watching as Alpha Kilian went into the room to rest did Tony and Ben breathe a sigh of relief.
Having settled that matter, they went to settle another matter.
They walked over to Thalia’s room and knocked on the door, but there was no response. A frown appeared on Ben’s face. “Don’t tell me she didn’t come back?”
“Give her a call.”
Nodding, Ben called Thalia right from his watch.
Once he made the call, it was only answered when it was a second away from disconnecting automatically.
“Hello.”
“Where are you, Thalia?” Ben asked. “At the rooftop!”
“The hotel rooftop?” “Yes.”
“Okay, we’ll go up and look for you.” “Bring some beer up.”
Ben was taken aback for a second. “Got it.”
A few minutes later, Tony and Ben went upstairs with two cans of beer.
As soon as they stepped onto the rooftop, they saw Thalia sitting on the ground, hugging her knees and looking despondent like a child that had been wronged.
Used to her carefree personality, they were not used to seeing her in such a state. They looked at each other before approaching her.Text property © Nôvel(D)ra/ma.Org.
They placed the beer beside her and sat on either side of her.
The next morning, the brothers woke up early when their alarm rang. Worried that Alpha Kilian would leave without them, they prepared themselves quickly. Coincidentally, they bumped into Alpha Kilian and Dave as soon as they stepped out the door. Dave, noticing their tired eyes, asked, “Did you both not get any sleep last night?” ” Let’s not talk about it,” Tony sighed. “Last night, Thalia kept us on the balcony until dawn.”
Seeing the sleepy look on the boys’ faces, Dave found them quite adorable. It was as if they were being forced to go to work. Looking at them, Alpha Kilian suggested, “You two should go back to sleep. Dave and I can take care of things.” However, jolted awake by his words, the boys shook their heads. “No, we want to go!” “But,” Dave teased.
“We’re fine. We’re not sleepy at all!” they forced themselves to look alert. At their reaction, Dave and Alpha Kilian chuckled together. “Daddy, even though Alpha Dave knows that shop, we were the ones who discovered it first. Maybe we can find other clues there. Don’t you think?” Tony asked.
Alpha Kilian nodded in agreement. “That makes sense.” “So…” “So both of you should wash your faces first, and then we’ll go together,” Alpha Kilian said. After acknowledging him with a nod, Tony and Ben rushed to freshen up and pack, afraid of being left behind.
Their minds were put at ease when they saw Alpha Kilian still waiting for them. He handed them some food. “Grab a simple bite first. Once we see Nelly, I’ll treat you boys to a feast.” Tony and Ben took the food and began to eat. With Alpha Kilian in the driver’s seat, the four of them set off.
The shop wasn’t far, so the journey was short. When they arrived in its vicinity, they parked the car at the side, wanting to avoid being noticed. Tony pointed at the shop. “Daddy, that’s the one!” After looking at it, Alpha Kilian turned to the boys. “You guys should stay here and stay out of sight. I’ll go in alone.”
“Daddy, isn’t it too early for you to go now?” Tony asked. “Nelly didn’t mention a time yesterday, so we have to be there early,” Alpha Kilian said. “Nelly didn’t mention a time yesterday, so we have to be there early,” Alpha Kilian said. “Given Nelly’s temperament, I reckon she won’t arrive so early,” Tony commented. “This time’s special, hence unpredictable. Anyway, I’ll get myself prepared while you guys keep an eye out here. Let me know once Nelly arrives,” Alpha Kilian instructed. Tony nodded.
However, just as Alpha Kilian was about to get out of the car, Tony suddenly grabbed him. Turning around, Alpha Kilian could see the brimming hope in Tony’s eyes. “What’s wrong?” Tony gave him an earnest look. “Daddy, tell Nelly that we miss her a lot.” Alpha Kilian looked at Tony, then at Ben. “All right.”
“Also, give this to Nelly,” Tony handed something to Alpha Kilian, who looked down at it. “This is a secret between Nelly and us. Daddy, you’re not allowed to peek,” Tony said. Alpha Kilian curled his lips. “That’s something I can’t guarantee.” With that, he opened the car door and got out.
Tony and Ben watched as Alpha Kilian walked away.
As Alpha Kilian entered the shop, Dave covered his ear. “Testing. How’s the signal?” “It’s working.” “Okay. Let’s stay in touch.” “Okay.” Tony and Ben stayed in the car, which was parked in an inconspicuous area. Luckily, they had an unobstructed view of the shop’s entrance. They began their wait.
As the seconds passed, the brothers grew increasingly anxious, unlike Dave, who remained steady as a rock. At that moment, Tony looked at Dave. “Alpha Dave, how’s Daddy doing?” Dave flashed a smile in response. “He’s fine. Don’t worry.” Tony nodded.
He was about to say something when another car slowly approached. Upon seeing it, he exclaimed, “Someone’s here!” The others looked over, and Dave spoke into the headset. “J, someone is coming. Remember to stay out of sight.”
A black sedan stopped near the shop entrance. There were two foreign men in the front, both muscular and carrying weapons. Their arrival made Dave and the boys vigilant. When the sedan door opened, one of the foreign men got out and opened the door to the backseat. Nelly subsequently emerged.
