Alpha Knight’s Cursed Mate

KNIGHT

“I’m sorry.” Nirvana wanted to cry again but pushed her emotions back in control. “We just lost a good man, and here I am laughing at some stupid idea.”

“But you’re right,” Zarah confirmed it to her. “Let’s get out of here. You should take some people. It’s safe down here.”

“That’s the plan,” Kaleb said.

Some of my pack are already waiting for us-at least fifteen heads, including women and older werewolves.

“What should we do, Alpha?” Lucien asked. He’s one of the elders and Kaleb’s father.

“You’re still here, Dad. I told you to leave.”

“I can’t do it and save myself while everyone is here.”

“Then go down with these people,” I told Lucien. “Take charge of the bunker. You know the code if things go wrong, and remind everyone never to open the vault. There’s a dead body down there, and it’s still probably contaminated.”

“You hear our alpha. Let’s get down,” he said to the others who chose to stay.

When they started moving, I turned to Kaleb. “You can stay with your father. You don’t have to come with us.”

“I’m sorry, Alpha, but I’d rather stay with you. You need any help you can get right now. We don’t know if there’s a reinforcement coming.”

“Thank you. I should call our allies. Let’s head to the office.”

“What are you talking about earlier, Vana?” Lennox asked.

“This place has an energy source for witches and warlocks. If Cyrius will take over this place, we’re over. We have to protect this, or he will be invincible.”

“But he can’t come here either because it’s Nirvana’s booster. That’s why he has to lure her out so she won’t be stronger when she’s out of these ley lines. Have you heard of the spirit of the wolf, specifically, the Warrior Spirit of Asina, Lennox?”

I watched my uncle’s reaction. His eyes widened as he stared at Zarah and then at Nirvana, rubbing his arms for the goosebumps. “That’s impossible. How?”

“When she died-”

“Ah. She has a good soul. Goddess, I can’t believe this.” When he looked at me, I saw his eyes light up with pride. “If I die protecting her, so be it. At least I die a hero.”

“You better not die, Uncle. You still have to marry us.”

Nirvana shook in amusement. “We’re about to face hundreds of werewolves, and all you can think about is getting married. Nice one, Alpha.”

“He’s optimistic, and if this is his way of dealing with what’s going on, let him be.” Kailin wrapped her arm around Nirvana and kissed his cheek. “I think Dad is fanboying over you.”

“Fanboying? Is that even a word?” McKaye joked.

I went to my desk and opened my laptop after sending a group message to our allies. I hit the video call button and waited for them to answer.

Califf was the first face to appear. Then the rest followed. Alpha Ryden, Alpha Grayson, and Alpha Grady greeted.

“I know this is a bad time, and we received the message from the council, and I’m sorry, Alpha Knight.” Ryden was a young alpha who hadn’t found his mate but fought hard to take his rank. That was why he was feared and respected. He was not just a good alpha but also a good warrior. This is from NôvelDrama.Org.

“Thank you, Alpha Ryden.”

“How’s Nirvana dealing with this?”

“She’s doing good than I am, Califf. I’m calling this emergency meeting because I, as you all know, my mate has been hunted by the council, and I know you’re probably warned not to help me and not to interfere with this. I still don’t know what they want from her and why she’s on the wanted list. She’s human, and as far as I know, she did not do anything that breaks any law.” My allies didn’t know the truth about Nirvana, except Califf, and they could never know.

“You don’t have to ask where my loyalty lies, Knight. I’m with you on this. We tried contacting the council, but they did not allow you to open a forum. I’ll support whatever you decide. My pack is behind you on this, Alpha.”

“Thank you. That means a lot, Califf.”

“I’m sorry, Alpha Knight, but I have to say no. My pack was under attack, and I wasn’t aware Nirvana was Case’s granddaughter, and now, he is missing. I don’t know what’s going on, but my pack is terrified. I lost men, and I can’t afford to lose another.”

I saw Nirvana’s reaction, and she wasn’t happy about it.

“I respect your decision, Alpha Grayson. Case is missing because he wanted to protect your pack when you did not take action when the incident started. I can’t force you if this is what you have decided. Appreciate for joining this meeting.”

“My pack is divided by the decision to help your mate, Alpha Knight, but I am their alpha. We can send you help. Our territory is closer to yours.” Alpha Ryden nodded in agreement. “I know I can count on you if my pack will be in trouble.”

“How about you, Alpha Grady?” He was a new alpha, replacing an ambitious sinister alpha who attacked Califf’s territory to take Shadow.

“No questions asked. I’m with Alpha Califf. Let us know how we can send help sooner.”

“Thank you.”

Alpha Grayson ended the call, leaving just my remaining allies that I could count.

“I couldn’t thank you enough. I just lost a man from a virus just a few hours ago. This is a challenging time for me and my rank. So I don’t want to make this long. I will stay and defend my territory and protect this land. If you are willing to send your men to help me, you need to give them a code so I know who our allies are. I couldn’t trust anyone anymore after someone just kidnapped my mate.”

“Sorry to hear that, Alpha,” said Alpha Grady. “Here’s the code my men will tell you when they come. Mine blood will shed in thy honor.”

“The same,” Alpha Califf and Alpha Ryden agreed.

I closed the laptop after the call. “Fucking Grayson. What an asshole.”

“Don’t waste your energy on the wrong people. They want to save their own skin. Let them. So what is your plan, son?”

I looked at Zarah. “How do we know if your shield is breached?”

“You have a security system and CCTV, right?”

“Yeah, but our expert in that kind of just exploded inside the vault.” It still broke my heart knowing Gage was gone, and I failed to protect him, but I would mourn him later. Right now, we have a pressing matter that cannot wait.

“I’m sorry, Knight.”

“It’s fine. I’ll mourn later.”

“Zander is good, but not as good as Gage. I will assign him to monitor the security system,” Luka said.

“Then he’s assigned to that job. Tell the twins, Maddox, and the other enforcers to scout the perimeters. Report to me once they spotted intruders. Use guns and bring walkies. I don’t give a shit who dies or who lives. They will come to my territory to take my mate because of money, and I will put bullets in their heads. I will deal with the council later.”

“Don’t let your anger and revenge control you, Knight.”

I looked at Nirvana. “I’ll deal with my anger issues and revenge plot later, Nirvana, but the moment they decide to take that bounty, they become my enemy.” I rose from my chair.

Zarah sighed. “Califf just texted me, asking for a portal.”

“A portal?” Lennox asked.

“Gee, Dad. You have a lot of things to catch up.” Kailin grinned at her father.

“Where’s the dagger?”

“With me.”

“Good. Let’s go and welcome our allies.”
