Chapter 344
Chapter 344
James’ POV
“Why the hell are you ordering just water?” I demanded with pursed lips.
“Because that’s what I want, obviously.” She responded calmly.
“That’s bullshit, I heard your stomach growl back in the car, you’re definitely hungry.” I pointed out and
watched as a little color pinked up her cheeks. The freckles on her cheeks seems to come to life more NôvelDrama.Org owns all content.
here in the insides of the restaurant, giving her a radiant look, coupled with the way her green eyes
gleamed brightly like two jewels.
“You’re telling a lie,” She argued but the bite in her voice wasn’t as intense as usual this time and I
knew that I had been right, she really was hungry, proving me right that I had been right to keep
worrying about her.
I ignored her and ordered for the waiter to bring different varieties of dishes, and when he had left, I
had been greeted with her glare.
“I’m not eating any of those.” She pointed out and I lifted an inquiring brow. “And why is that?”
“Because I don’t have money for all of that, didn’t you see the price tag of their dishes?? One serving of
steaks is freaking five thousand dollars? Why would you even bring me go a diner as costly as this??”
She ended all of her rants with a small huff and an eye roll.
“Don’t worry about the payment for dinner tonight, it’s on me.” I breathed out after a few moments, but
she only eyed me off before lifting her chin.
“I can’t allow someone pay for my meal, if you’re paying for it tonight then I am going to pay you back
after I’m done paying you all the previous outstanding debts.”
The tome in her voice had been serious and I caught a hint of pride in that, and so I let out a low hum
as I nodded my head.
“Sure, suit yourself.”
When the food finally arrived, she was hesitant and refused to try out the food until after I kept insisting
and reminding her that her money which she was going to pay me back was going to be of no use, was
when she then decided to eat the food.
And as she ate, I hated how my eyes kept getting pulled to her face, over and over again. Even how
she ate looked so collected and poise, and each time she caught me staring at me, a bored look was
always on her face, which I hated to admit but it fueled me on– and each time our eyes meet, I was
never averting my gaze, leaving her to do that over and over again.
When she got tired of it, she leveled me with a glare and I silently began to ask myself if this was the
first time I was finding a glare on a female’s face hot.
“Why are you staring at me every damn time?” She demanded while pointing her knife at me, and I let
out a small snort as I leaned towards her.
“That’s because I know you’d look better than you do right now if you get rid of this ugly base ball cap.”
She glared harder at me this time. “It’s a good thing i wasn’t aiming towards looking good this evening
then.”
“The hoodie and face cap really are ugly.” I pointed out and she rolled her eyes. “I got that the first
time.”
“I’m reminding you again.” I pointed out.
“Well, you don’t have to. And what has what I currently have on has to do with us meeting up tonight?
What’s it to you?”
“Because I really thought you were going to make a little attempt at least.” I picked up my drink and
sipped it a little.
“Well, you thought wrong, also… you sound like you had been thinking of this meetup as some sort of
date-date, I’d suggest having your head checked by the way.”
I breathed out a small laugh at that, I knew I should be getting angry at how she was talking to me. I
was a freaking right and man of the most powerful mafia here in Italy, and she was talking to me
without any ounce of respect, but I’ve got to admit that I kind of liked it.
It was fresh breath of air from girls falling over themselves for me and doing anything in their power to
please me, it was very different from what I was used to, which was what was making me feel more
intrigued about her when I was supposed to have gotten angry.
“Your mouth is quite sharp, Miss Blair… like a razor.” I finally mused in response, watching as she
threw back another glass of alcohol like it was water.
She snorted. “Yeah? Don’t tell me that hurt your ego, that was honestly me being nice because I still
feel thankful that you had taken me to the hospital.”
I picked up the wine and poured another glass for her, which she threw back in a go, with our eyes
locked, and the side of my lips lifted in a small grin.
“I see you can hold your own alcohol…” I mused as I poured another glass for her. She sipped on this
one for a moment before shrugging a little.
“You learn to do that when getting drunk is like your coping machine.” She responded quietly and those
words stuck in my head. When I made to ask her what she had meant, she had ignored me and
refused to respond to any other personal questions I had asked her. The only time we had talked was
bantering and that was it.
When I drew up at her apartment, I suggested she give me a kiss so she wouldn’t have to pay me back
for the dinner, but she had only leveled me with a scowl.
“Don’t be delusional please, why would you even think I’d kiss you?” Had been her response, which
hadn’t been surprising because it was her and I’ve come to understand that my handsomeness doesn’t
faze her a little, like it usually does other girls.
When I had head back home that night, all I could think of, was Blair.
