Prospective boy friend
Nina was rushing towards the meeting room to join the meeting. She is late. Ella insisted on coming on time. But Nina got held up in the traffic. Ella is planning to expand 'The Fragrance' and open their own retail outlets instead of supplying to other retailers. They had this proposal on hold for a while now. But this was held back because they couldn't find any prospective investors. Just that morning Ella called Nina and informed her that they found a new investor. But the new investor insisted on meeting Nina before signing the contract. Nina was in such a rush that she didn't see where she was going. Hastily she rounded a corner and bumped into someone.
"Ouch" she hissed when something hot spilled on her dress and scaled her stomach.
She looked at the person whom she bumped into and noticed that the coffee he was carrying spilled on his hand which is now turning red.
"Shit, I am so sorry" she apologized sincerely. She pulled some wet wipes from her bag and started to clean his hand.
"No problem, just let me help you first" he pulled out his hand kerchief and gently patted her dress near her stomach where the coffee stain is visible on the lilac knee length dress she was wearing.
Unlike her, the man didn't show any signs of pain or discomfort despite being scaled by coffee. Instead, he is looking at her with a cute smile.
"I am really sorry, I am late for a meeting. I was not careful just now" she apologized again. Her cheeks tinted pink when she received too much attention from the tall man infront of her.
"No problem, beautiful. I am glad that I could finally meet my Jilted blind date" he said with an easy going grin.
Nina was taken aback by his words. She looked at him with surprise. Untill that Moment she didn't bother to look at the man properly. But after his unexpected comment she looked at him properly. He is wearing a navy blue suit which is hugging his tall frame. He is looking fit and handsome in a boy Nextdoor kind of a way. He looks like he is easy going and easy to get along with. "What? I didn't get you?" she asked with confusion.
He chuckled lightly.
"My mom has this habit of arranging blind dates for me, much to my annoyance. I never liked to go and meet someone whom we never met for the first time and listen to the things which they speak about even though we are not interested. That procedure is an ordeal. But then she arranged a blind date with you yesterday, and for the first time I was looking forward to it. But then sadly, you cancelled our date. I was disappointed. Then, as if we are meant to be, I found you here again" he spoke charmingly and the way he spoke is not at all cocky or annoying.
Nina found herself smiling at him. Belatedly she remembered the date she asked Ella to cancel.
"Oh? So that was you. I am so sorry. I am not interested in starting a relationship now. I recently got out of a relationship. So, I don't want to lead you on" she explained, softly. She doesn't have to, but she burned his hand and he was still being sweet. So she found herself feeling comfortable with him.
"Well, no problem. We would get too many chances in the future to get to know each other better" he spoke confidently with an easy going grin.
She raised an eyebrow at his confidence.
"I just said I am not interested, then why do you sound so confident?" she inquired with a huff.Property © of NôvelDrama.Org.
He chuckled and extended his good hand into a handshake.
"Hello Miss Davis, i am Nova Fisher. I am the investor who came to meet you today" he Introduced himself.
Nina is stunned into speechlessness when she heard this.
She closed her eyes, feeling embarrassed. She cancelled a date with him and then spilled coffee all over his hand and scalded him.
'What a way to create a good impression on your new investor' she thought to herself.
"Nina, thank God you are here just on time. Oh, looks like you met Mr. Fisher" Ella came at that moment. When she spotted Nova Fisher and Nina together, she smiled widely.
She then noticed the unmissable dark mark on Nina's dress.
"What happened to your dress?" she inquired with concern.
Nina gave a sheepish look and hinted Ella to save her with her eyes. Ella immediately understood what Nina meant.
"Mr. Fisher, can you give us a moment?" Ella requested before she pulled Nina along in the general direction of the bathroom.
Once inside the bathroom, Nina spilled everything, making Ella giggle with mirth.
"Well, I genuinely didn't know that he was your blind date. His profile looked interesting. So that's how it happened" Ella explained while Nina tried to clean the coffee stain off her dress.
"And on top of that, I spilled coffee on him. Ella, do you think he will still agree to sponsor us?" Nina asked skeptically.
Ella grinned from ear to ear.
"If we go by the way he was looking at you, he will be more than just intrested in our company. He looks like he is interested in our new perfumer as well" she said with a wide grin.
Nina paused what she was doing and thought about what Ella just observed. She too got the same feeling. He was flirting with her even after she mentioned that she was not interested.
"Ella, I already have too much on my
plate. I am yet to finalize my Divorce with Theodore. Right now, my career is my main priority. I don't want any distractions. And most importantly, I have a friend like you. Why do we need men?" Nina joked the last part.
Ella smiled softly.
"Nina, let's listen what his company offers and their stipulations. We can only agree if you feel comfortable with what they have to say. If not, we can find someone else" Ella assured like the good friend she is.
Nina gave her a grateful smile.
"Why didn't you hit me with your car an year ago? I could have used a good friend like you back then" Nina spoke softly. Ella smiled.
"I know I am one of a kind" she joked.
