Chapter 30 Loss
Chapter 30 Loss
When I regained consciousness, I felt as if a layer of skin was peeled off from top to bottom. I knew
very well why this feeling came from, but I still didn't give up. I opened my eyes and grabbed a person
and asked, "Where is the child? My child?" Belongs to (N)ôvel/Drama.Org.
Unexpectedly, the person who cared me this time was still Gavin. He said, "Darcey, you're awake. Are
you thirsty? Are you still feeling uncomfortable?"
"Where's the child? Where's my child?" I stubbornly asked again and again, but when I looked at his
expression, the despair in my heart increased.
After hesitating for a while, Gavin finally stuttered. "The child... the child is gone..."
This news exploded in my mind like a dull thunder and shattered all my thoughts. I didn't even notice
that Gavin's hand was being grabbed by me all the time.
I cried until I drained my strength. I began to regret and blame myself. I wondered why I couldn't have
let Olivia go. I knew she wasn't sane and it was my fault I kept provoking her.
Gavin couldn't stand it anymore, so he comforted me. "Darcey, don't be too sad. You can still get
pregnant after recovering. But if you are feel blue now, I don't know what will happen in the future."
I looked out of the window at the lush leaves and said. "It's now April... summer has arrived."
"Darcey......"
"I want to be alone." I raised my head and smiled at Gavin, hoping to reassure him.
Gavin could not do anything. He just said, "Then I'll wait outside. Just call me if you need anything."
This time Gavin was very kind and gave me a single room. A private room is good. It allows me to
focus on what happens next.
Another child was gone, and I lost another one. The last time was because of my mistake, and this time
it was because of my unreasonableness. These things seemed to have entered a strange circle and
trapped me in it.
Gavin's appearance seemed to be a life-saving straw given to me by God. He gave me a baby, like a
hope. This time, the baby was gone, but he was still with me. I really can't push him away anymore.
However, I was not distraught for too long. Gavin knocked on the door and came in. "Nurse was
checking the room. Do you feel better now?"
I nodded, and then waited for the nurse to check on me. She moved skillfully and said, "I see your
husband is outside. I can understand your mood. It's really sad you lost your child. But you have a
good husband. You still have plenty of opportunities to recover. Don't you think so?"
After saying that, the nurse left in a hurry. She did not know that her words made Gavin and I, who
were in the ward, deeply embarrassed.
The last time we met, Gavin and I broke up unhappily. It seemed that we met several times and all
didn't end well. Now that the nurse said it again, I really didn't know how to face Gavin.
Gavin broke the silence first and said. "Are you hungry? It seemed that you haven't eaten anything
today. How about I buy something for you?"
I nodded. He asked me if I had any food abstained , and I got up and left. I looked at the seat he was
sitting on and was lost in thought for a long while.
