CEO's Tears Over Pregnancy Test Discovery

Chapter 1255

With a dark expression, Eugene moved closer and gently placed the back of his hand on Lydia's forehead to check her temperature.

The heat radiating from her skin only deepened his frown. He pulled his hand back, preparing to call the family doctor, but before he could move, Lydia's hand gripped his.Content © copyrighted by NôvelDrama.Org.

He froze, looking down at her pale face, surprised that she was holding onto him so tightly. Mrs. Lucy and his assistant were both watching, adding an awkward tension to the room.

Eugene's lips began to curve slightly in response, but the name Lydia mumbled next immediately wiped away any hint of a smile.

"Quincy..."

Eugene quickly withdrew his hand, his face hardening.

"Mr. Ford, I'll go call Dr. Neil now," the assistant said hurriedly, eager to break the silence. Mrs. Lucy, sensing the tension, also found an excuse to leave the room.

It wasn't long before the family doctor arrived. He checked Lydia's temperature and proceeded through the usual steps which included taking vitals and writing a prescription. But when he began prescribing medication, Eugene interrupted sharply. "She's pregnant. Make sure whatever you give her is safe for both her and the baby. Nothing strong."

His eyes remained fixed on Lydia as she lay unconscious. He was already imagining her reaction once she woke up and realized what had happened. He didn't want to give her any more reason to resent him.

"You have a child?" the doctor asked, clearly taken aback.

Eugene shot him a cold glance. "It's not mine. Don't ask questions. Just do your job."

The doctor was even more surprised but wisely chose not to pry further. Eugene wasn't the type to tolerate unnecessary chatter, especially now.

After administering the medication, Lydia's condition seemed to improve slightly. Her tense expression softened, and after an exhausting morning, everyone in the room felt a brief sense of relief.

The doctor pulled Eugene aside. "You mentioned earlier that the child isn't yours, but you clearly care about her. Are you really planning to raise someone else's kid?"

Even though they had known each other for years, Eugene still shot the doctor a withering look.

"I knew it," the doctor muttered, rubbing his neck. "So, what's your plan?"

Eugene's gaze turned cold, his voice chilling. "As long as I can keep her with me, it doesn't matter. But that child... I won't let it stay."

The cold, ruthless edge in his tone left the doctor speechless.

"You really haven't changed," he muttered, shaking his head. "Same as ever."

Eugene didn't bother to argue. He had never been a good person, and when he wanted something, he would do whatever it took to get it.

Lydia finally woke up in the evening, her head throbbing and her body heavy as if it were weighed down by lead. As she tried to sit up, the door creaked open, and Mrs. Lucy entered with a water pitcher.

Seeing Lydia awake, Mrs. Lucy beamed. "Miss Lydia, you're awake! Let me go get Mr. Ford right away!"

"Wait, is Eugene here?" Lydia asked, her voice weak.

"Yes, he's been here all day. You wouldn't believe how worried he was. He left everything at the office and came straight back to check on you," Mrs. Lucy gushed, clearly hoping to play matchmaker between the two.

Lydia felt a wave of discomfort at her words. She was about to respond when a sudden thought struck her. She began searching the room frantically. "Mrs. Lucy, do you know where my phone is?" Lydia asked, her anxiety mounting.

Last night, she had gotten into Eugene's car and followed him without thinking. Now, after battling a fever and being unconscious most of the day, it had nearly been a full twenty four hours since she last contacted Quincy. She could only imagine how frantic he must be by now.

The more Lydia thought about it, the more restless she became. Her gaze on Mrs. Lucy grew increasingly desperate.
