Chapter 35

That evening, Brax came to visit me in my room, his knock on the door gentle. Everything about him had a certain sweetness to it even the way he knocked. “It’s me Brax.” He called out so I could be sure that he was the one and for like one million more reasons that had to do with modesty. He was the perfect gentleman.

I opened the door from behind and let him in with a wide smile on my face. I was getting bored already, he had perfect timing.

“Hey, Kira. How are you feeling?” he asked, his deep voice gentle as he entered the room.

“I’m okay, Brax. Just trying to process everything.” I replied, my voice still shaking from the earlier events. I was sitting on the bed, my hands clasped together in my lap as he gave me that soft pitiful look that made me want to start crying all over again. I wished he’d stop looking at me like thatNôvelDrama.Org content.

“I know it’s a lot to take in. But you’re safe now. Ryker won’t bother you again,” he assured me, his eyes scanning my face for any signs of distress. I wasn’t sure how to tell him that I was worried that Ryker’ would show up again but he had it in mind after all. He had my safety in mind and that mean so much to me

“Thanks to you, Brax. I don’t know what I would do without your I said, feeling grateful for his presence in my life. He had saved me from Ryker’s clutches and stood up for me in front of Aston. It was a lot more than I would expect from him and I owed him a lot. I owed him big time for everything.

“Don’t mention it, Kira. That’s what friends are for,” he said with a smile, his eyes crinkling at the corners. He sat down beside me on the bed, his proximity comforting. The word “friends” still sounded really weird to me but I was more than willing to take a chance at being his friend.

I knew I couldn’t trust anyone in the pack but I was willing to take the risk with him. If he ended up betraying me, it was going to be worth it. I had nothing to loose anyway.

“Thank you for checking up on me, this really means so much to me. I told him and he nodded. “I’m just glad that I could be of help and I know that you might be going through a lot right now but I need you to know that I’m here for you no matter what you need. Don’t ever hesitate to ask, please I insist. He was literally begging for me to ask him for favours and 1 felt a listen at peace to know that even if it was it last resort, I had someone to run to.

The next day, I went to the kitchen for dinner, but the atmosphere was tense. The maids were whispering among themselves, their eyes glancing at me with a mixture of curiosity and suspicion. I soon realized that they were talking about Aston’s decision to cut ties with Ryker.

“I heard Aston severed all ties with Ryker because of her,” one maid said, nodding towards me as I entered the kitchen.

“I know, right? She must have done something to impress him,” another maid replied, her voice barely above a whisper.

I felt shy and uncomfortable, not wanting to be the center of attention. I quickly finished my meal and left the kitchen, trying to escape the prying eyes and wagging tongues.

Soon, Mara’s maids summoned me to her chambers. When I arrived, Mara asked me point-blank with without any hesitation whatsoever that she could be wrong or what she was about to do could be wrong and completely uncalled for “What’s your plan, Kira? You’re not fooling anyone with your innocent act. Her voice was cold and accusing, her eyes narrowing as she looked at me,

don’t have a plan, Mara. I’m just a prisoner here,” I replied, trying to stay calm and composed. I stood tall, meeting her gaze head on. I was doing my best to be as polite as it was humanly possible for someone that was currently been accused of unspeakable.

“Don’t play dumb, Kira. Aston has never done something like this before. You must be hiding something,” she said, her eyes boring into mine as if trying to extract a confession.

I’m not hiding anything, Mara. I swear,” I said, trying to convince her of my innocence. My voice was firm, but inside, I was trembling with fear and annoyance.

“Watch your back, Kira. And don’t get any crazy ideas,” she warned before dismissing me with a wave of her hand.

When I returned to the kitchen, I found that my food had been tampered with. The maids had messed with my plate, and I couldn’t control my anger. I felt a surge of rage and frustration, my hands shaking with fury. It wasn’t enough that I had to endure an interrogation from Mara like I was some sort of culprit when I was nothing but the victim, now I had to get my food messed with too? There was a limit to what I could take.

“Who did this?” I demanded, my voice loud and clear. The maid giggled, their eyes darting around the room in mockery. They believed that I couldn’t do anything because to they’d done things to me in the past and gotten away with it

One of the maids stepped out, a smirk across her face. “Yeah, I did that, what are you going to do about it huh, duck face?”

I lost my temper and beat her up, unable to control my rage. The other maids watched in horror as I unleashed my fury on the poor girl. I kicked her so hard, it sent her flying across the kitchen tiles and she slammed her head against the counter.

The other maids rushed to meet her in a hurry checking if she was bleeding and all while staring at me in horror. I was panting heavily, my anger had not subsided, I still wanted to hit her but there was a guard lurking around at the entrance of the kitchen, not that I cared in that moment but he gestured at nie so he had my attention,

“The alpha has summoned you,” he said and I nodded.

I thought it was because of the fight, and I feared punishment, but when I arrived at his chambers, I was surprised to find him alone.

Kira, come here,” he said, his deep voice commanding. He was sitting on a couch, his eyes fixed on me as I entered the

1 approached him, my heart racing. He held out a cup and asked, “Pour me a drink, Kira His voice was calm and collected, but his eyes seemed to bore into mine.

As I poured the drink, my hand shook, and I spilled a little of the alcohol on his shirt. He asked, his eyes never leaving mine, “Clumsy, Kira,” he said, his voice low and husky and weirdly seductive.

How was it that the man that I hated the most had such a s***y voice and how was it that I never noticed until now? The way he moved and flexed his muscles as he did, it felt like the whole thing was in slow motion. Like I was watching a live thirst trap.

eyes

“Take off my shirt,” he said, his voice ranging between commanding and I want to eat you out and leave no crumbs, his never leaving mine. My heart raced as I hesitated, wondering what he had planned. My heart almost jumped out of my chest when I heard the words from him. His words seemed to have a weird effect on me that made me want to do whatever he asked.

He didn’t sound mad and I didn’t want to make him mad. I was threading on a very thin line, that I knew of, why? I wasn’t quite sure.

I was kneeling next to him and the space between us was not a lot meaning that I could feel the heat of his breath on my face and I had to say that for someone so devilish, his breath smelled really nice. So nice that it made the insides of my thighs stick with sweat or maybe it was just my nerves acting up whatever it was, I peeded to leave this room as soon as possible.

“Why do you look so hot?” he purred. Hot as in sweaty or something else? I was sure as hell that my face was as red as a Tomatoes as we spoke.

What are you thinking inside that little head of yours? Do what I asked.” He commanded and I started to unbutton his shirt slowly, my hand shaky with each step that I took.
