Chapter 144
Kala POV
It had been 3 hours already and to say I was a mess was an understatement.
My elbows were on my knees, my head in my hands as I repeatedly pulled at my loose hair...all horrible things going through my mind. I couldn't find any inner peace...all I kept thinking is that something must have gone wrong for it to take this long.
The doctor had said that 3 hours should be more than enough time to complete the transplant procedure and stable both patients. So why were we know moving into the 4th hour.
I don't even notice the female pack member walk in to offer us drinks until I hear her drop the tray on her way out.
Hector helps her put everything back on the tray and cleans up the now soaked floor as the female's hands were trembling too much.
"Kaia calm down. Your aura is affecting your pack members...
"What?" I come out of the dazed state I was in as his lips moved but I don't hear the words he speaks. "Your aura. it's in overdrive. You're putting your pack members under undue stress and pressure. It's a good thing you didn't go into the operation after all, they'd be a mess with you next to them." "Oh sorry." I sigh out suddenly aware that I hadn't had my block up.
"You have nothing to apologise for..." He bends down infront of me, taking my hands into his before moving them to his lips and placing a prolonged kiss on them.
His kiss brings my senses back to life, igniting a spark from the tingles it causes before I remember to clamp it back down. I can't think of anything else in this moment in time, his actions removing all thoughts only leaving a blissful mind space.
Once they are both out and recovered, then I will start to even consider my future...but right now...just one step at a time.
I pull my hand away from his and I can see the slight concern flicker in his eyes. I might not be ready but Hector is, he wants to know what is next.
"Don't Hector, not right now.."
"I didn't say anything."
"You don't need to. I know what you are thinking."
"And what is that?" His eyes look past my pupils and deep into my soul, leaving me speechless. All text © NôvelD(r)a'ma.Org.
"You want to know what is next, what the future is for you and me.."
"Well actually yes...but not right now, I can wait."
Wait, I scoff Internally. Isn't that what I did for so long.
I don't even know what to expect right now. Maybe we could work...maybe we could work things out. The moon goddess chose him also for a reason, as if knowing her own original design was flawed. "They are going to be fine Kaia."
"What if they aren't...what if..." My bottom lip qilvers and all of my strength vanishes as my mask I wore to hide my inner turmoil...my worries, slips off.
"Shh, they will be fine. But, if the worse should happen then you aren't alone, I am here with you now and I will never leave your side again." He wraps his arms around me and for a moment I can't help but give into the urge to nestle my nose into his neck and breathe in his scent, it was helping to comfort me.
I was strong now, I was different...but even I can't deny that having him here was a source of comfort to
1. me.
"What if she doesn't wake up?"
"She feels strong...I can feel her through the bond...she is still with us, have faith my love." His words of endearment might have meant more if he hadn't of reminded me that he still shared a mate bond with my sister that he is still her mate also.
I pull away from him with a soft smile, I know he didn't mean what he just said...he didn't mean for it to come out like that but, old insecurities will never leave me.
"Knock knock.." The surgeon that I had worked with after the attacks knocks on the door to announce his presence.
"Doctor?"
"It was a success!" He walks over to me, relief in his eyes.
"It was? Where are they, can I see them?" I beam out, rushing over to the doctor. Relief now completely taking over me. They were okay..they were alive. thank the goddess.
"Yes Luna, you can see them. They are being moved into their post operation rooms now. Both have been responding well and Alora will be closely monitored but she already seems to be showing signs of her stats improving." "Thank you." I grab hold of the doctor's hand to let him know I truly appreciate all his hard work.
"You are welcome luna,"
