Chapter 83
Hector POV
I had extended my search to Alpha Jude, I needed his assistance looking into information that dated long before I set up the pack 4 years ago. Yes I had intelligence, yes I had records...but not as much as Alpha Jude who had decades, if not centuries' worth of alpha
names and pack details.
I was over pushing it, I know I was...but what was the alternative...
Accept my fate with Alora and just wait around for the mate bond to evaporate, for her to have been marked by Than.
No, I had to keep myself busy...and I had to get to Kaia before Than did. I don't understand his infatuation with finding her, and he'll deny it for the sake of Alora, but I know for a fact he is searching for Kaia. His trackers have been seen combing the borders of the alliance packs, packs that would attack them if I gave the order.
It's my fault he is looking for her again, in my red haze of anger I gave information out that I now regret doing. The mate bond with Alora has always made me think irrationally, something seems to possess me that I don't recognise in myself. Now I've potentially put Kaia in harm's way. I had to get to her first.
Ezra, Riley and I have been looking into the background of any alphas that had visited the Dark Phantom pack since its creation, which is more than I thought. Even in the space of 4 years, we've held more events than I care to remember.
"This one?" Riley calls out to me, as he uploads another alpha's picture up on the large screen I had installed in my office to aid in our hunt.
"No, he died, his son took over the pack.." I correct him from my own memory.
"Maybe Kaia doesn't know he died...maybe that's why she couldn't find him." Ezra offers.
"Hhmm maybe.." I wasn't convinced, Kaia had a purpose to come here from day one. I thought I had been clever in gaining her trust to join my pack, thinking I had the upper hand but she had also been playing me from day one. No matter what game I tried to play with her, I know now that she was going to drink my blood regardless. It wasn't many that could play me at my own game.
"How about this one?" Riley uploads another picture up on the screen, a face I don't recognise. They were just all starting to blend together.
A male with dark black hair, he had an alpha look about him but other than that nothing that stirs a
memory within me.
"I don't remember him..."
"I'll see if I can find any images of him when he arrived, our cameras must have picked up something. I'll also email Beta Edmund to see if he has anything on his system."
We were just going around in circles and I was losing all patience in our search.
We had been at it for days, how can Kala be so hard to find....and this mysterious alpha that she was supposedly looking for.
"Here Alpha, this could be him...he has greying hair compared to the first image but this male definitely came to our pack..." Riley states as he uploads the photo on the screen of a male walking across the front alpha gardens.
He had black hair like the previous photo, but he had aged a lot since judging by his now greying hair... the
scar.
He has a scar across the eye. I sit upright, excitement stirring within me from my wolf.Nôvel/Dr(a)ma.Org - Content owner.
"I remember him, odd man...he had a scar across his eye." No wonder I didn't recognise him from the previous photo, he looked decades older now. He only stayed a few nights and left as soon as I started asking questions about his pack. "How long did he stay?" Ezra asks, now standing behind Riley on his laptop.
"Days, if that. He turned peculiar when I started asking about his pack. From memory he was looking for land to buy. What was his name..."
"Do you think she was who he was looking for?" Ezra asks turning to me, seeming unsure of why Kaia would be looking for such a menacing looking male.
Shit! Sorry Alpha. You are going to have to owe your brother Beta, this is unreal..." Riley cusses before himself as he receives a new message, gasping from what he is reading.
"Load it up!" Ezra demands with his beta authority and I sit with bated breath. Riley uploads the email message from Alpha Jude's Beta onto the screen.
"Beckett!" I read out the alpha's name from the email.
I read the email before Riley starts to open each attachment one at a time for us to view. Jude's records
show that this Beckett was the Alpha of the Clear Waters pack before it was attacked 4 years ago.
"The attacked killed most of the pack, except for the alpha and a few that dispersed. Why on earth would Kaia be looking for him?" Ezra reads out before stopping and asking the question that was also playing me. Why was she looking for Beckett... "Fuck!" Riley curses, hitting the side of the table.
"Riley!" Ezra reprimands Riley.
"Sorry Beta...."
"Well what is it?"
"You aren't going to believe this another email has come through." Riley loads it onto the screen before reading it out for himself.
"Beta Edmund puts Our records show that Alpha Beckett's pack the Clear Waters was attacked 4 years ago. Reason of the attack unknown. Beckett since visited a number of packs looking for land to buy. Says his mate died in childbirth and that his child was killed in the attack."
As soon as Riley stops reading my mobile phone starts ringing. I look at the caller to see it is Alpha Jude. Whatever he has to say he didn't want to include on email
"Jude?*
"Hector, the child that died in the attack...I'm sending you a picture of her now."
"Her.." I respond to Jude, who sighs down the phone before ending the call.
My phone beeps with the new picture message, I open it to find a picture of a young girl...maybe early teens, no older than 14.
It's a picture of her smiling standing next to this Alpha Beckett as his lips press against the top of her head. They are standing outside a large house, I presume an alpha house. Sun kissed skin, long brown hair and a smile upon her face as she looks to the camera. She looks happy, a child's innocence still to her. Beckett's face also smiling, no trace of a scar in his face at all. This photo was taken before the pack attack.
It was her, he was the alpha she had been searching for.
Kaia...
