Dumping My Fiancé For His Uncle

Chapter 98

After a long moment, Nicolas withdrew his gaze, his tone cold. "Let's go."

Darwin couldn't help but speak up. "I noticed Miss Rowland didn't look too well. Maybe something's wrong. Mr. Hendrix, should I go check on her?"

It was clear to Darwin that Thea had no feelings left for Jake, but for some reason, Nicolas seemed constantly bothered by it.

It made sense, though. Even eight years ago, when the two had been together, Nicolas had always held a grudge. Separately, the names Thea and Jake were no issue, but together, they became a sure way to push Nicolas' buttons. Nicolas lifted his gaze, giving Darwin a cold, indifferent look. "If you're so free, I can find more work for you."

Darwin immediately fell silent.

The coldness in Nicolas' eyes grew sharper. "Drive. Back to the office."

Thea felt like her marriage with Nicolas was nearing its end.

For days, she hadn't run into him at Avon Ventures.

Meanwhile, rumors about Nicolas and Stephanie were swirling all over the internet, growing louder with each passing day. Curious, Thea decided to look into Stephanie.

Stephanie was an overseas celebrity. Although her talent wasn't particularly remarkable, she had always had incredible resources.

With her good looks and warm personality, Stephanie was quite popular in the entertainment industry.

Perhaps due to her recent search history, Thea's social media feed began pushing more and more videos of Stephanie.

One day, Thea came across a photo collection of Stephanie. She paused, staring at one particular photo.

It was taken in a restaurant.

In the photo, Stephanie was smiling brightly, her dimples showing faintly. Her eyes sparkled with unmistakable sweetness and happiness.

Next to her was a hand, peeling shrimp.

With just one glance, Thea knew it was Nicolas.

'No wonder she's so happy,' Thea thought to herself.

She sighed softly, closing her phone, and began pondering the idea of divorce. 'Should I be the one to suggest it, or wait for Nicolas to bring it up?"

Having mentally prepared herself over the past few days, Thea no longer felt that bitterness or ache in her heart.

After all, she had more important things to focus on.

The group that had attacked her. Although they had covered their faces well, they hadn't been able to hide everything. Thes had noticed something unusual about them.

WB.

All of the attackers had a tattoo on their necks, a snake coiled around a poisonous flower.

The tattoo wasn't large. Thea had only noticed it when one of the men crouched down to negotiate with her.

Upon closer inspection, she realized each of them had a similar dark mark on their necks, with almost identical color and shape.

After returning safely to her hotel, Thea had searched online, her curiosity piqued.

As expected, Thea uncovered a few clues in some of the darker corners of the web.

It turned out to be a criminal organization. People could hire them to do dirty work for a price.

They had a long history of wrongdoing, but the police had never been able to touch them.

When Thea read this, she was certain that there was no way Madelyn had hired them. Madelyn simply didn't have that kind of

keep me in mind. Well, I suppose it wouldn't be fair to waste such dedication,'

After thoroughly reviewing the information, Thea waited until the end of the workday. She called a taxi and headed to the race track in the western suburbs. This group had a rule. If one wanted to make a deal, one had to race against them first.

Most people hired professional drivers, but Thea didn't want to complicate things.

Conveniently, she had experience in this area.

'It's merely using her own tactics against her, Thea thought to herself.

As soon as she arrived, Thea could hear the roar of engines and the excited shouts of the crowd.

The place was quite different from what she had imagined. It wasn't a chaotic, lawless scene, but rather well-organized, with an air of control.

In the audience, she even noticed several well-dressed individuals.

While observing the surroundings, Thea began to speculate.

She had previously wondered about this group. Even though their activities hadn't reached the level of murder or arson, they were still illegal. The police shouldn't be helpless in dealing with them.

The only explanation was that they had powerful backing.

Or perhaps the team's founder was their backing.

But what exactly this backing was, Thea couldn't figure out.

Thea approached a staff member to sign up for the race.

The staff member gave her a strange look, speaking cautiously, Miss, the races here aren't child's play"

Thea nodded. "Tknow. Do I need to provide some kind of certification?"

Thea hadn't brought any documents with her in her rush, and she wasn't sure if the paper certificates she'd found online would be accepted here.

The staff member shook his head and handed her a waiver. "Just sign this. If anything happens, any injuries or worse, we're not responsible." Without blinking, Thea signed her name.

Her decisiveness surprised the staff member, who gave her another glance, a complex expression crossing his face.

It was clear that he had likely guessed her true purpose for being here.

The race concluded, and finally, it was Thea's turn.

She hadn't brought her own car, so she had to use one from the track.

To seasoned racers, this was essentially a death wish.

After all, no one could guarantee that a car used by others would be in good condition, and a driver needed time to adjust to

a new car.

Thea adjusted the controls and took a deep breath.

She hadn't set any high expectations for herself coming here.

Her goal was simple, race and survive.

Several stunning women stood in the middle of the track. With the wave of their flags, the race began.

The cars shot out like bullets.

Thea felt her blood burning with excitement.

It had been so long since she'd felt like this.

Back in high school, she loved challenging herself with extreme sports.

Before that incident, she had been energetic and adventurous,

With her family's neglect and the school's pity for Emmalie, Thea had long given up on interpersonal relationships.

Instead, she found solace in thrill-seeking activities, enjoying the raw pleasure that came from pushing her physical limits.

Though many years had passed since then, it seemed that her body had retained its muscle memory. Everything still came naturally to her. She could hear people around her discussing her.

"Who is that woman? She's really pretty. Definitely not a pro."

"Yeah, for sure. We'd recognize the pros. But her technique isn't bad."

"Hey, I think it's just average. No way she's beating that guy."

"She's probably just here to show off. Wait till she gets targeted, she'll start crying soon enough."

Before long, Thea noticed some unfriendly eyes on her.

She wanted to speed up, but the others were moving at a similar pace. Some of their cars had better performance, making it

all about subtle adjustments and skill.

The unease in Thea's chest grew, especially when a turquoise-blue c

suddenly appeared right in front of her.

If she hadn't reacted quickly, she would have crashed.

She instinctively swerved to the side, trying to overtake, but as soon as she shifted even slightly, another car came up and blocked her.

Now, one car was in front of her and another on her right, trapping her between them tightly.
