Chapter 9 Stripping in Public
Tension rose sky–high in the CEO’s office. In the past, Gwen always spoke to Jake tentatively. This was her first time putting on such a strong and cold front.
Jake’s expression darkened immediately.
“Is that true, Jake?” Sienna asked.

“Of course not,” he replied bluntly. “Like she said, there are a lot of talented and capable employees working for Hall Group. I don’t need to detain a mere secretary’s ID.
“But since you wish to resign, you need to carry out the handover process properly. You’re breaking the company’s rules if you fail to carry out that task and choose to leave the company while wearing the uniform.”
At that moment, Gwen finally understood the reason why Jake used her ID to coerce her into coming to Hall Group. Either she bit the bullet and chose to stay, or she could leave without her clothes on.
To think that Jake would use such underhanded methods just to force Gwen into giving in! He must have thought that she’d definitely give in. That was when Gwen felt her last shred of dignity getting ground to dust by Jake.
“Ah, so that’s the reason. In that case, you’re the one at fault here, Ms. Lawson. Goodness, you made me misunderstand that there might be something going on between you and Jake…”
When Gwen noticed that Sienna was about to snuggle into Jake’s arms, she did her best to calm her trembling heart down. Then, she took off her black jacket before undoing the buttons of her undershirt one by one.
“I’ll strip.” Those two words were enunciated clearly.
Jake was right. Since Gwen wanted to end things between them, she should do so cleanly. Her sudden movements made the office go quiet. Sienna could only stare at her in disbelief.
Meanwhile, Jake, who already had his head lowered and his eyes tinged with lust, was stunned to see Gwen stripping
down.
Having interacted with her last night, he could clearly tell that she was completely different from before. He didn’t know how to describe that feeling. It was as though she was about to break free from his hold on her.
Jake felt that he was starting to lose control of the situation. Could it be that he never got to know the real Gwen despite having married her for three years?
News began spreading instantly. Many employees kept looking at the doorway curiously. No one would’ve thought that Gwen, who had always been gentle and soft–spoken, would display such a stubborn and deflant side.
To think that she’d take off her uniform just to resign!

“I know, right? The uniforms distributed by this company are so loose! We can’t tell if anyone else has a good figure!”
Everyone began discussing Gwen’s figure with each other. The discussion was quickly halted when Cedar clapped his hands together.
“Are you all that bored? Don’t you have work to do? Don’t make the company deduct your salary for slacking off at
work!!
The employees just swapped glances with each other before returning to their workstations immediately.

Only then did Cedar sneak a peek through the gap in the blinds while wondering what on earth just happened.
It was his first time seeing Jake going so far to make things difficult for a secretary who was about to resign. Could there be a misunderstanding between them?
Back in the office, Gwen, who had already shed her uniform, couldn’t help but shiver when her skin made contact with the cold air. She raised her head while enduring her cold.
“Can
you return my ID to me now, Mr. Hall?”
Gwen was worried that Jake might turn her down with another excuse, so she continued, “As for the handover process, I’ll send the details to Mr. Jett’s inbox once I’ve settled down in my new place. If you’re still worried about it, you don’t have to pay me last month’s salary.”
Obviously, she was planning to sever all ties with Jake once and for all.
