Redmption 348
I held my breath.
The next second, another familiar voice reached my ears. "Mrs. Gildon, I don't want to stay here. I only want to see Chris. If you let me see him, I'll leave and won't cause any trouble." It was Jewel. She was actually here.
From her words, it seemed that she was here to find Chris.
I had called Chris, thinking that he would contact Jewel, but it seemed that I was wrong.
This woman was something else. She actually dared to find her way to the Gildon estate.
"Are you threatening me?" Bree wasn't one to be trifled with.
"Mrs. Gildon, I'm not. I just want to see Chris." Jewel kept up her innocent act, soft and weak.
The adage that one should not judge a person by their outward appearance was held in countless instances.
The first time I laid eyes on Jewel, I thought she seemed so innocent and pure. I had the fleeting impression that the world had become a cleaner and more radiant place because of her. But, boy, was I wrong. I got smacked right across the face with the truth..
"Chris isn't here. I've already told you that!" Bree's voice rose a bit in anger.
"I know he's not here." Jewel's voice was calm and steady, her tone indifferent.
Bree didn't have such composure. She wasn't a loose cannon, but she was definitely a straight shooter who wouldn't put up with any games. "Are you saying that I've got him hidden away somewhere?"
Jewel silently acquiesced.
Bree let out a mocking laugh. "You're
a cunning one, I'll give you that. It's no wonder that Madeline couldn't outwit you. Now I see why my son chose you, a little widow, over Madeline, who's superior to you in every way."
Her words were harsh and mocking Jewel, but I got caught in the crossfire too.Belongs © to NôvelDrama.Org.
I wasn't even as good as a widow. That was the label on my failed romance with Chris.
"Mrs. Gildon, I would accept any punishment you give me today. But please just let me see Chris." Jewel switched her approach.
After several encounters with her, began to realize something. Beneath her innocent-looking exterior, she had a cunning and calculating mind. She had a lot of tricks up her sleeve.
"Mrs. Gildon, I can't live without Chris. A few days ago, my mother-in-law caused a
commotion at the hospital. Now, my videos are all over the inte, and my work is being affected. If I don't get to see Chris, I'll have no choice but to die." Jewel's voice was choked with tears.
"Don't try to scare me with that!" Bree, being a woman herself, can easily see through Jewel's deceitful tactics.
"Mrs. Gildon, I'm not trying to scare you. I'm telling the truth," Jewel said, then paused.
Moments later, I heard Bree gasp in shock. "What are you doing? If you keep this up, I'm calling the police." Bree's voice sounded off, and my heart skipped a beat. I rushed forward to see what was going on and
saw Jewel with a green bottle in her hand.
Bree pointed at her. "Put that down! Let's talk this over.
Hearing this, I knew that Bree was frightened by Jewel's threat.
My vision was excellent, and I made out the label on the bottle Jewel was holding. It was paraquat-a highly toxic herbicide.
