A New Change
Meanwhile, Alexander returned back to his office, exhausted after the meeting he had early that money.
He sat down on his chair while his secretary who had followed immediately he entered, came to brief him on his other appointments for the day.
Alexander sat down at his desk, clearly exhausted from the morning meeting. His secretary, who had been waiting, approached to brief him on his schedule for the day.
“Sir, you have a conference call with the overseas clients in 30 minutes,” she informed him, noticing his tired expression.
He sighed, clearly feeling overwhelmed by his tight schedule.
“Alright, set it up for me. Anything else I need to know?”
She nodded and continued.
“You also have a meeting with the marketing team at 3 PM, and there’s a dinner event tonight with the potential investors.”
Alexander leaned back in his chair, rubbing his temples.
“I need a break, but it looks like I won’t be getting one today. Thank you for the updates.”
His secretary was taken aback by his kind response and telling her thank you, she stood there for a few seconds.
Alexander looked up and wondered why she was still standing there looking dazed.
“Is there anything else…..?”
She shook her head, snapping back to attention.
“No, that’s all for now. I’ll prepare for your next meeting.”
He nodded, and she quickly left his office to carry out her tasks, leaving Alexander to focus on his busy schedule for the day.
As the secretary closed the door behind her, she returned back to her seat wondering what was happening to her boss.
He wasn’t nice, and has never thanked her for anything. All he does all day is yell and insult her which she was already used to.
Not that it wasn’t painful, but she got used to his behavior, but this sudden transformation is so weird.
She opened her computer and went to the company’s chat room for employees and informed them that Mr. Alexander said thank you for the first time since she has been working for him.
She quickly typed in the chat room:
“Just had a surprising encounter. Mr. Alexander actually said ‘thank you’ today.”
Her colleagues’ responses came pouring in:
“Are you serious? Is the world ending?” One of her colleagues commented with a surprise emoji.
“He said ‘Thank you?’ Did you record it? We need proof!” Another colleague commented.
“Maybe…. he’s a clone! That’s the only explanation!” Another colleague commented.
“I think we should call an emergency meeting about this.” another commented.
“Or is he dying so he’s trying to get on God’s good side?” another responded.
“Or is the company going bankrupt and he’s trying to be nice before he drops the bombshell?” another commented.
“Send a selfie with him as evidence!” another said.Content © NôvelDrama.Org.
She chuckled as the chat room buzzed with their surprise. Alexander’s sudden politeness was indeed a rare occurrence in the office.
What could have suddenly changed a mean and abusive boss to a kind one who says thank you to his staff?
She was curious to find out. She was so lost in thought that she didn’t know that Mr. Anderson was in front of her desk calling her mind to reality after noticing that she was lost in thought.
He knocked on her table to snap her back to reality.
When she snapped back to reality she got up quickly.
“Is Mr. Alexander on seat?” he asked her.
“Um…. Yes, sir. He’s having a 30 minute call with some overseas client but you can go in.” she replied, still trying to get her mind back to reality.
“And also…. what’s all this side talks I’m hearing about Mr. Alexander while I was in the elevator?”
“I um… what happened was that…. um…” she stammered, scared to reveal anything since she knew Mr. Anderson was her boss lawyer and they were close.
He leaned close to her table and smiled.
“Don’t worry, Sarah… your secret is safe with me. So spill.”
She quickly filled him in on the unexpected turn of events regarding Alexander’s newfound politeness and lively chat room discussion that followed.
Mr. Anderson chuckled and shook his head.
“Well, that’s quite unusual. Let’s hope it lasts. Anyway, I need coffee, black with cream and a little sugar and Alexander’s usual inside.”
“Yes, sir. Right away.” She left her table to carry out Anderson’s orders while Anderson smiled and entered Alexander’s office.
As Mr. Anderson entered Alexander’s office, he found his friend engaged on a phone call with an overseas client and also doing some paperwork.
Alexander looked up and signaled Anderson to sit down that he would be right with him.
Anderson nodded and sat down on the couch close to his table while he waited for Alexander to be done with his phone call.
After a few minutes, he ended the call.
“What brings you here today? I thought we would be meeting at the mansion for the private wedding?”
“Yeah…. I just felt I should check in with you about some few things before I leave and then go to the mansion for your fake wedding.” heinformed Alex.
“And also…. while in the elevator, a lot of your staffs were talking that you said ‘thank you’ to your secretary today. What’s going on?”
Alexander raised an eyebrow, not used to being questioned by his lawyer. “It was just a moment of appreciation. Is that a problem?”
Anderson chuckled, “No problem at all. I’ve been working with you for years, and it’s the first time I’ve seen this side of you.
So forgive me if I was taken aback by that. I mean you never say thank you to anyone except Jessie. So it’s surprising.”
“Just a change of heart, Anderson. That’s all.”
“Or… could it be that Marissa has started changing you into becoming a good man?” Anderson said.
Just then, Sarah walked in with a tray of cups and slowly placed them on the table.
Alexander gave her a nod of thanks, and she quickly left the room.
