Chapter 16
Chapter 16
‘Oh, sh*t Lianne thought to herself.
While Lianne did not have the habit of carrying her personal phone with her during working hours, she
slipped the phone into her pocket since it was nearly time to clock out. Talk about bad timing.
Holding her breath in fear, Lianne secretly pulled out her phone to mute it.
She caught a glimpse of the sender. It was her husband, who had played the disappearing act since
signing the papers.
Nevertheless, Lianne did not take a good look. She turned off the mobile screen and quietly stood in
the corner on her best behavior.
Thank goodness Zane did not put her in the spot. “You are dismissed.”
“Understood,” Lianne and Liam answered before making a hasty retreat out of the CEO’s office
Due to the time delay on Zane’s end, Lianne had no time to check on her personal phone. She hailed a
cab and headed straight to the airport.
Tyler and Sierra arrived at the airport with Lianne’s luggage. They checked in and dropped the
baggage at
the airline counter.
Once Lianne reached the airport, the group hurried past the immigration and boarding gate. They made
it
with minutes to spare.
Tyler whined, “You haven’t worked overtime since you were promoted. Is your boss trying to work you
to
the bone?”
Since Lianne had become Zane’s most loyal subordinate after the incident today, she was not going to
stand by any badmouthing related to her boss. “Don’t say that about my boss. He’s the best boss in the
world.”
“Tsk, tsk tsk. Gummy, why are you jumping to Mr. Atlas’ defense? Do you have a history with the man?”
Sierra clicked her tongue.
With Sierra, Tyler drew close to Lianne and sniffed her like a dog.
Lianne recoiled away. “What are you doing. Ty? Sierra?”
Sierra replied, “We wanted to check if there was a musky smell of men on you.”
Tyler said, “No scent of men, but I caught a whiff of medicine.”
The burn along Lianne’s ear to her neck then caught their attention.
Sierra quit fooling around. “What’s with this scalding mark? Who did this to you?”
Tyler flew into a rage. Who was the b*stard? I’m going to kill him!”
Feeling loved, Lianne smiled. “No need to be alarmed. I sent him to prison.”
Before Sierra and Tyler could ask, Lianne explained the whole story. Her best friends would want to
know every detail.
Like Lianne, Tyler and Sierra started to take a shine to Lianne’s boss.
Instead of offering words of comfort, Tyler and Sierra took Lianne by the hand and gave her support in
their own way.
“You have one new message
Following another notification, Lianne took out her phone
She had about a dozen missed calls from an unknown number and two unread messages.
The first message had been delivered more than half an hour ago Tm Caleb Hill, the guy who got
married to you a year ago. We should meet soon and talk about our divorce.”ConTEent bel0ngs to Nôv(e)lD/rama(.)Org .
