Chapter 1512
Natalie followed Skylar's gaze across the street to the advertisement on the large screen.
When she saw that it was an endorsement by Austin, she paused for a moment.
With a playful tone, she remarked, "Mr. Powell's face is captivating no matter when you see it. After becoming a fan of Mr. Powell, I realized that no other celebrities have a place in my heart. Well, except for Charles—he's one of my favorite male celebrities now, too."
There wasn't a trace of sadness in Natalie's voice. Skylar shifted her gaze back to Natalie. "Have you two not been in touch lately?"
"We broke up. We're both doing fine," Natalie replied, her gaze lingering on the screen for a moment longer.
In fact, it hadn't been long since their breakup. Yet, for some reason, it felt like ages since she last saw Austin. She'd been so engrossed in work recently that she had only just realized how much time had passed.
Some things weren't easy to just let go of, no matter how hard one tried.
Skylar didn't press further. The advertisement on the mall's large screen was likely part of a broader campaign purchased by Austin's company. His ads had been running there for quite some time.noveldrama
She glanced around the café, which was significantly larger than Natalie's previous ventures.
"You are incredibly business-minded, Nath," Skylar said with genuine admiration.
Natalie grinned broadly. "Of course! I'd say I'm practically a career woman now. And recently, I've been busy with opening a flower shop. You'll have the flowers for free whenever your family needs them."
"Quietly accomplishing big things, huh?" Skylar couldn't help but admire Natalie even more.
She suddenly realized how well Natalie was healing from her heartbreak-by focusing on her career. That was a smart way to go about it.
Natalie beamed with pride. "That's right! Now, my employees call me 'Ms. Jakeman'. I'm a boss now, with almost 50 or 60 people working under me. And the team keeps growing."
Skylar gave a thumbs-up. "Cheers to you, Nath!"
They laughed and chatted for a while before heading across the street to the mall for lunch.
They decided to keep it simple and grab some Taegu cuisine. But as soon as they sat down, they ran into someone they knew.
"Nath, is that really you?"
Natalie looked up, surprised. It took her a moment before she blurted, "Mrs. Hughes."
She didn't expect to run into Eleanor
here. Since her divorce from Jeremy,
she had made an effort to avoid
anyone related to him in Jipsburg, including Eleanor and Morton.
SUMS
She had only met them a few times before. Skylar immediately guessed who the woman was when she heard the name "Mrs. Hughes". It was quite a coincidence.
Eleanor was beaming with a smile, clearly happy to see Natalie. "It's been a while! You haven't changed a bit, Nath."
"How have you and Mr. Hughes been?" Natalie asked.
"We're doing well. I've been out shopping with a few friends, and we thought we'd try some Taegu cuisine," Eleanor said with a cheerful smile.
She glanced casually at Skylar, thinking that Natalie must be dining with her boyfriend.
She had heard from Kate that
Natalie had recently started a new relationship. Over the years, she had come to accept the situation. She knew that after Jeremy's affairs and their divorce, it was unlikely that the two of them would ever get back together.
"I'm not sure if this place has good food, but it's popular. This is my first time here with my friend too,"
iel?
Natalie said, scanning the nearly full restaurant.
It seemed like it would be tasty, though.
Eleanor nodded with a smile. "I've been here before, and it's quite good and authentic. Well, I won't keep you any longer."
