Chapter 2233
Chapter 2233
Qiana smiled coyly at that as her heart filled with joy.
Tremaine had regarded her dearly despite his aloofness, making all sorts of arrangements for her in secret.
He first took her hair to make a memento, and now an extended honeymoon.
Tremaine must absolutely adore her.
"You have to be careful about tomorrow's wedding. You're becoming the first lady of Nashaland after all; you can't make even the slightest mistakes." Madam Quartley cautioned.
Qiana said, "Don't worry, Madam Quartley. I know what to do."
Madam Quartley was confident of Qiana, so she didn't say more.
Smiling, she fixed her gaze at Qiana. "Qiana, you have no idea how long I've wished for your marriage with Tremaine, wishing you three would reunite as a family. It's finally coming true."
Qiana feigned adoration, saying, "Madam Quartley, I will definitely take good care of you after becoming part of the family. I'll regard you as my own grandmother."
Madam Quartley's smile widened at her words. The tension on her elderly face relaxed.
But then a thought struck her, and she turned sad. "Too bad Yuliana can't witness your marriage to Tremaine herself."
At that, worry laced her face. "It's already been so long, yet Yuliana still hasn't recovered from her depression. Does she really still not want to see us? Your wedding to Tremaine is tomorrow, but she..."
Qiana felt a sense of schadenfreude.
It wasn't that Yuliana had a hard time recovering but that she was already dead!
Though joyous, she put on her sad mask. "I heard this is common for people suffering from depression. They don't want to see anyone. There's no quick fix to this illness but don't worry, Madam Quartley, Mr. Tremaine will definitely find the best psychiatrist for Yuliana, and she will definitely recover."
Madam Quartley sighed.
She said, "That's all we can hope for. I hope your marriage to Tremaine can bring some luck to our family for Yuliana to recover as soon as possible." After chatting a little longer with Qiana, Madam Quartley told her to get some rest.
Qiana would have a lot to do the next day, being a bride and all. She couldn't keep chatting with her all night.
Madam Quartley had thought of retiring for the night after Qiana left, but for some reason, Yuliana came to her mind again, and she couldn't help feeling stuffy in her chest.
With that, she decided to take a stroll in the garden to take a breather, only to bump into Zorion.
Zorion was sitting under a tree, his head downcast.
The moonlight draped over Zorion, making him look indescribably handsome from afar.
Sure enough.
His looks were comparable to Tremaine's, being his brother.
Of course, it only remained true so long as he didn't speak.
His silliness would show the moment he spoke, completely shattering any illusion of his handsomeness.
Zorion was lost in thought, never realizing Madam Quartley's presence even when she was already next to him.
Meanwhile, Madam Quartley thought Zorion was missing his wife, judging from his expression. This is property © of NôvelDrama.Org.
She was already anxious about Yuliana's 'disappearance', let alone Zorion.
"Zorion." Madam Quartley called out.
Only then did he look in the direction the voice came.
He didn't look too surprised, a little sluggish even when he saw his grandmother, greeting her only after a short silence, "Grandma." Madam Quartley sighed under her breath. "Zorion, you're thinking about Yuliana, aren't you?"
Her assumption took Zorion aback.
He wasn't thinking about Yuliana but Ruth instead.
But it was thanks to her reminder that Yuliana came to his mind.
He then asked, "Grandma, where is she? I haven't seen her in such a long time."
Madam Quartley told a white lie, "She has something she needs to see to. She'll be back soon."
Zorion mumbled an 'oh'.
However, his thoughts reverted to Ruth the next second.
He was wondering if Ruth's baby was a boy or girl.
Did her husband go to her after she gave birth?
What did the child look like? Were they a carbon copy of her?
et
These questions had been bothering him for the longest of time. He wanted nothing more than to see Ruth but decided against it in the end whenever he thought about Tremaine's words and his choice.
Though he could think of her instead, couldn't he?
Hence, it had become a habit for him to sit in the garden and think of her.
Madam Quartley's heart ached, seeing how Zorion would space out after only exchanging a couple of words with her.
The couple sure was faithful to each other!
Yuliana must overcome her depression as soon as possible!
Anyhow, she would never allow Ruth to return to Quartley Palace now that she had given birth; Yuliana and Zorion could finally return to their peaceful lives.
"Zorion, Tremaine is getting married tomorrow." She decided to change the subject.
Zorion lifted his head, repeating robotically, "Tremaine is getting married tomorrow."
Madam Quartley fixed his collar and said, "You have to be on your best behavior tomorrow. Try not to show your silly side, and don't speak if you can. Just sit quietly."
As long as Zorion didn't speak, people would have a good impression of him.
Knowing he wasn't bright, Zorion nodded and said, "I won't say anything. I won't embarrass Tremaine."
Madam Quartley's heart ached at his promise.
His grandson was perfect in so many ways, handsome and a good man, just too bad he was born with a mental defect.
How nice it would be if his brain functioned like
one else.
"You should rest early." Madam Quartley said, "C'mon, don't stay here any longer. It's cold at night; it'd be bad if you catch a cold and can't attend Tremaine's wedding O tomorrow."
Zorion stood up and said, "I'll go to bed then. You should too, Grandma."
Madam Quartley returned to her bedroom.
A servant brought her a glass of milk.
As she had osteoporosis due to her old age, drinking a glass of milk became part of her bedtime routine. The doctor suggested she drink milk every day and eat food rich in calcium.
Madam Quartley drank it as usual.
She didn't notice the servant's strange expression as she was drinking.
And she just handed the empty glass to the servant when she was done.
The servant took it and left.
A look of panic flashed across the servant's face as she turned around.
Sheldon was summoned to Tremaine's office at eight that evening.
He spoke up before Tremaine could say anything. "Mr. Tremaine, your wedding is tomorrow. You should head home as soon as you can, leave the work for another day."
However, Tremaine retorted, "Who told you I'm getting married tomorrow?"
Sheldon didn't know how to respond to the question.
Wasn't he?
Mr. Tremaine had even especially ordered him to head to Agaphen City to make sure everything was ready for his and Qiana's wedding not too long
ago.
