Chapter 27 You’re a Gold Digger Indeed
The look on Sam's face didn't look as great after hearing what she said.
"Four hundred thousand dollars?" He scowled.
Lacey couldn't help but shrug at his dull face. Nonetheless, she feigned calm and walked past
him. Grabbing a strand of hair, she then tied her hair into a casual ponytail.
"Sam, you're a businessman. I'm sure you've heard of a hush fee!" She bent to get her coat off the floor
and put it on.
Despite her casual movements, it made her look seductive.
At sight, Sam set off a smirk. He gradually approached her with eyes full of sarcasm.
Lacey did not flinch this time. She stood her ground and looked boldly into his mocking eyes.
Once he stepped in front of her, Sam suddenly extended his fingers. He gently ruffled her long hair with
one hand and caressed her waist with the other. His gentleness seemed too good to be true.
Next thing she knew, Sam's low, gravelly voice was next to her ear. He asked aggressively, "Is that how
you usually make money?"
Lacey froze, and so did the smile at the corner of her mouth.
Shortly after, a smirk popped up on her face. She grabbed his collar, smiled up at him, and said, "It
doesn't matter how I earn my money. Didn't you have a wonderful time last night?"
Lacey sat her legs on the bed as she spoke. Her shirt slid off, revealing the marks on her legs. It
looked particularly harsh.
Sam's eyes were as cold as ice blades at this point, as if they could slice her skin and nerves. His
contempt for her was apparent.
Still, Lacey remained a faint smile. "Don't worry. I'll keep my lips shut as long as you pay me!"
Sam brought his fingers to her face and pinched her hard upon hearing those words. "Four hundred
thousand dollars for a night of lingering. Lacey, you're a gold digger indeed!"
Lacey stuck out her tongue and moved it around in her mouth. How painful. Why was he pinching her
so hard? Did he intend to crush her face?
"Here's a million dollars to shut you up forever!" Sam said as he took a cheque from his pocket and
started filling in the blanks.
Then, appearing as disgusted as he could, he flung it at her face.
"Sam, that's really generous of you!" Lacey beamed as she picked up the cheque.
"Get lost!" Sam yelled.
Lacey shrugged at the thunderous voice. She hurriedly put away the cheque and said, "Okay, I'll be on Text content © NôvelDrama.Org.
my way."
Throwing on her coat, she dashed out the door.
Little did Lacey know she'd run into Sophia as soon as she stepped outside.
Surprised, she glanced around.
Words like luxury, extravagance, exploitation, and wealth popped into her mind at that moment.
She wasn't in a hotel but rather the home of the Garrison family.
What a lavish and money-filled mansion!
It seemed that after the engagement, Sam's concern for Lillianna increased.
"Lillianna," Sophia was surprised to see her walk out of Sam's room. She raised her eyebrows and
asked, "Have you gotten what you want?"
Lacey scanned at the girl from top to bottom. She had read an exclusive interview with Sophia in a
magazine. Despite being young, she was arrogant.
Lacey ignored Sophia and walked down the stairs, not wanting to talk to her.
However, Sophia mistook Lacey's behavior for shyness. Unfazed, she followed up and went on to ask,
"I heard that your sister is back at the Carter family. How do you plan to deal with her?"
Lacey came to a complete stop. She didn't turn around but asked in a low voice, "Did she offend you?"
Grinning, Sophia took a step closer and replied, "Everyone in South City is well aware of her
personality. Such a shameless woman deserves to die. She must not be allowed to bring shame to the
Garrison family. I don't understand what my mother is thinking. She even requested that your father
take her back and reform her. Can her character really be reformed, though?"
Lacey couldn't help but break out in laughter at this point.
Sophia was taken aback. She stared at Lacey and asked, "What are you laughing at?"
"I've always imagined the daughter from a wealthy family to be dignified, elegant, and calm. But in your
case, slander is your name. Sophia, you've really done change my perspective!"
"What did you just say?" Sophia's face turned dull almost immediately. "What do you mean by that?"
she shrieked as she dashed in front of Lacey.
Still, Lacey continued heading downstairs, ignoring her.
"Lillianna!" Sophia moved swiftly to block Lacey's path. She looked upset. "Just because you're
engaged to my brother doesn't mean I can't do anything to you!"
"Oh? What do you plan to do then?"
"What do I plan to do, you asked?" Sophia's eyes flashed with scorn at that very moment. She raised
her hand, ready to land a vicious slap on Lacey's face.
Her hand, however, came to a halt in mid-air.
Sigh, same old tricks.
Lacey sneered as she grasped Sophia's wrist.
Why did they have such a penchant for hitting people?
"Lillianna!" Sophia was annoyed that she had failed to deliver her blow.
Lacey scowled, her dazzling, gorgeous eyes glaring coldly at the spoiled brat. "It appears that the
legendary Garrison family is no better than that. Before you look down on others and care if they
embarrass the Garrison family, you should be concerned about the consequences of your own
actions!"
After a couple of accusations, Lacey continued to walk down the stairs.
