Chapter 683
Chapter 683
“What’s the matter with this place?” asked Jackson, whose voice had grown hoarse all of a sudden.
“When I was young, I often came here to play!” said Serenity. “Although the adults said this place was dangerous and forbade us from playing here, I still snuck up the hillside. At the time, I felt like I was a true adventurer!”
Compared to her, Lynette wasn’t particularly fond of playing here.
“You were a kid, after all,” said Jackson.
“Back then, I thought I’d come across some ground–breaking secret here, like a treasure chest, a UFO, or maybe a time machine. Sounds silly, doesn’t it?” she asked.
Perhaps in an adult’s eyes, the woods beyond the hill were not that big. However, to a child, it was practically a whole new world to explore.
“No, I find it incredibly adorable,” said Jackson. “But now that you’ve grown up, you realize that this is just another hillside. Let’s go. It’s getting late. I’m worried that it’ll be quite late by the time we return to Solaria.”
Serenity nodded, but she gave this place one final look before she left.
The moment she turned back, unbeknownst to her, Jackson clenched his fists tightly, and a strange look flashed across his
eyes.

When Jenny left the set, she found herself ambushed by a reporter. Têxt © NôvelDrama.Org.
“Ms. Hall, how do you feel about your fiance, Zeke Shaw’s ex–girlfriend, Serenity Lewis, who has just been acquitted by the court today?”
Jenny stopped in her tracks and stared back at the reporter in disbelief. “What did you just say?!”
The reporter repeated his question hastily. This piece of news had yet to reach the outside world. However, that reporter had friends working in the court, which was why he had managed to get hold of this information.
Serenity’s re–trial was kept a secret from the outside world. In other words, this was actually an inside scoop.
The reporter grew increasingly excited when he thought of this.
Jenny’s facial expression changed in an instant. Overturned? Did Serenity really manage to overturn her conviction?! When Jenny heard Yuri’s name from the reporter, her facial expression soured even more. She hadn’t heard of this name for more than three years.
And yet, the reporter told her that the court had scheduled to convict Yuri for issuing false allegations against Serenity.
“Ms. Hall, the death of your sister, Mira, had nothing to do with Serenity. As it turns out, she’s actually a victim too. Will this affect your relationship with Mr. Volkov? Also, you’ve asserted on multiple occasions that you’ll never forgive Serenity. Do you plan to apologize to her anytime soon?”
The reporter’s questions came in rapid succession.
With a frown, Jenny ignored the reporter and stormed up to her car. The reporter tried to chase after her but was swiftly blocked off by her assistant and bodyguards.
When Jenny returned to her and Zeke’s love nest, the man hadn’t come back yet.
She then gave her father a call to confirm if the matter was true.
After all, she had scoured the internet to find out about the acquittal, but she had come up empty– handed.
An hour later, Quinton gave his daughter a call. “The case really was overturned. Yuri Volkov was arrested half a month ago when he returned from abroad.”
