Chapter 1058 How Dare You
Karina tugged at the corners of her stiff mouth, managing to force out a smile.
She sat up, and the sheets slipped away, revealing her skin covered in hickeys.
Sylvester stared at her fixedly, his pitch-black pupils constricting even more.
He was a grown man. Although he had led a disciplined lifestyle all these years, he naturally
understood what happened upon seeing her in this state.
“Y-You... Did we r-really do something we shouldn't have?”
Tears welled up in Karina's eyes as she looked at him and choked out, “Sylvester, I'm in pain.
Everywhere hurts so much. Last night, you were... making love to me like a madman... Don't you
remember?”
Veins throbbed visibly on the man's forehead. After a few seconds of stunned silence, he grabbed her
arm urgently, his voice frantic as he said, “No, Karrie! Nothing happened between us, nothing at all.”
She straightened her body while on her knees, deliberately revealing the blood-stained bedsheet for
him to see.
All Sylvester could hear was a loud buzzing as if something had exploded in his mind, and endless fear
consumed him.
Even though he repeatedly claimed he'd marry Karina, he never once considered touching her or
having any intimate relationship with her.
From the bottom of his heart, he resisted the idea of touching another woman. He thought his body and
soul should, as always, belong to Rainie. Belongs to (N)ôvel/Drama.Org.
Karina reached out and held his hand, her voice choking with emotion. “Sylvester, I'm the daughter of
the Smith family. My innocence means a lot to me. Now... no matter what, you must marry me and take
responsibility for me. Otherwise, I will be kicked out of my family.”
Sylvester's thin lips writhed, and he was about to say something when the door was suddenly pushed
open, startling them both.
Before stepping through the door, Rainie had imagined countless possibilities. Perhaps he would throw
a cup at her or order his bodyguards to kick her out. He might even simply look at her coldly while
hurling nasty insults at her.
However, never in her wildest dream did she imagine he would be so intimately close to another
woman.
Her legs gave way at the scene in the room, causing her to step back twice in succession. Then,
clutching her chest, she began to tremble slightly.
This man ultimately broke the vows between us.
Still, I have no right to blame him, for I was the one who betrayed him first. Even though it wasn't of my
own accord, I can't absolve myself once tainted.
The moment Rainie pushed open the door, Sylvester was completely dumbfounded, his mind a total
blank.
Only after a few seconds of calming down did he barely manage to steady his emotions.
At first, he wanted to rush up to her and explain everything, but upon seeing Mason following closely
behind, all his fear and unease instantly dissipated, leaving only a faint, cool indifference and
detachment.
“Who let you in?”
Rainie lowered her head a little as a hint of self-mockery flashed in her eyes.
I've no right to demand anything from him since I was the one who betrayed him first.
After sorting out her thoughts, she quickly recomposed herself, looked up at Sylvester, and replied in a
flat voice, “I snuck in on my own. Mr. Hollett, could you please do me a favor?”
Seeing her expressionless face that contained no hints of anger in her eyes, Sylvester was immediately
left feeling frustrated.
Doesn't this woman feel even a bit upset upon seeing me fooling around with others?
Or could it be that she has truly, wholly forgotten me, so no matter how debauched my private life is, it
won't stir any emotions in her anymore?
The thought of this woman, who now neither physically nor emotionally acknowledged his existence
and had totally forgotten him, filled him with an unbearable urge to strangle her.
Why does she get to thrive and succeed in life when I'm in such a mess?
She's clearly so filthy and lowly. How could she deserve to have a child and a happy, complete family?
What she deserves is to remain in the filthiest of places and constantly repent for her sins! She should
never be able to turn her life around and certainly should never bloom with joy in another man's arms.
“Do you a favor? Ha! Haven't you already latched onto Mason? Can't he help you? Or do you think that
I'm superior and more capable than him, so you want to return to my arms?”
He sneered, continuing, “If you're entertaining such thoughts, I advise you to give up at once. I have a
penchant for cleanliness, so I have no use for a woman who lacks it.”
Sylvester had pretty much lost his mind from his wrath.
After all, in his eyes, Rainie appeared so nonchalant despite seeing him being intimate with Karina, and
she even brought Mason along to p*ss him off. There was no way he could tolerate this.
As Rainie listened to his heartless words, her heart ached to the point of numbness, leaving her devoid
of any feelings.
She had already anticipated what would happen before she arrived and how this man would humiliate
her, so she didn't really feel disgraced.
Rather, she felt somewhat guilty that her abrupt appearance had interrupted his plans.
Had Rainie known earlier that Sylvester and Karina were busy inside, she would definitely not have
barged in recklessly.
But now that she had already done so, she felt indignant to just walk away.
After all, if she put off seeing him until next time, she'd have to be humiliated by him again.
Despite having been accustomed to it, she wasn't a pushover, and she had her limits of tolerance.
“You must be joking, Mr. Hollett. You and Ms. Smith have been childhood sweethearts, and now you're
happily engaged. I'm sure your grand wedding is just around the corner. I certainly wouldn't stoop so
low as to break up a happy couple.”
The fury within Sylvester intensified, and his eyes turned dark as ink, sweeping like a tempest as if
ready to grind anyone into dust.
“You're right. I am to be happily wedded to Karrie soon. If you're wise, you'll refrain from using
underhanded tactics to interfere. If not, I assure you, I'll make your life a living hell.”
He had practically forced these words out through gritted teeth, his tone filled with immense hostility
and rage.
Rainie had no interest in dwelling on this topic. After he finished speaking, she tried to voice her
concern. “Mr. Hollett, Mason is in a bit of a predicament right now. Since you two are cousins, could
you perhaps help him out for the sake of your familial ties?”
So, she came over early in the morning just to ask me to help Mason?
She's actually lowering her pride to beg me on behalf of another man?
How dare you, Rainie Yeanisky?
A torrential fury swirled around Sylvester, making the atmosphere in the room grow oppressively tense.
Karina could discern his extreme anger. A trace of fear flickered in her eyes, and she discreetly let go
of his arm.
The current Sylvester was like a towering inferno that not even an ocean of water could extinguish.
One wrong move and everything around him would be reduced to ashes.
Karina had known this man for so many years, yet she had never seen such a terrifying side of him.
Even when he found out that Rainie “had sex” with Mason over a month ago, he had never been this
livid.
Karina was seriously jealous of Rainie, who could effortlessly stir Sylvester's emotions.
If it were me begging him on behalf of another man today, he certainly wouldn't be this enraged. In fact,
it might not even cause his emotions to fluctuate a bit.
“Get out,” Sylvester growled at Rainie, suppressing the wrath inside him.
Rainie, too, could sense his surging anger. If she had any sense, she'd know not to continue provoking
him at this juncture.
However, she didn't want to give up this opportunity, for she didn't want to be forced to seek Sylvester
out by Mason again and cause herself to be trampled all over by the two men.
“As long as you agree to help Mason through this crisis, I'll leave immediately and won't stay a second
longer and continue being an eyesore to you.”
Sylvester was thoroughly infuriated. In his fury, he grabbed the drinking glass from the bedside table
and hurled it toward her.
