Sweet Revenge: Jace & Emerald

Chapter 28

Everything was going well with Emerald’s company. They bag the contract with JHBank, the largest commercial bank in the country. Creep and Daryl arranged all necessary meetings and documentation. Emerald was extra happy when Elise managed to get the 60% controlling share of Morgan’s Grocer. Unknown to her family, she’s preparing for her grand entrance into their company.

Another week passed, and Liam informed Emerald that his vacation was over and that he would have to go back to Europe. “I am going to miss you, ou Daddy Liam,” Ace said, teary eyes. Emerald just let him say that since her friend was going to leave.

“Don’t worry, Ace. I am going to call you from time to time. I will come back for vacation.” Liam said as he tapped the boy on his head, which Ace normally didn’t want adults to do to him.

“Is that true?” Ace asked for assurance.

“Of course! When did I ever lie to you?” Ace smiled before hugging Liam. Emerald watched them, and her heart ached, seeing how much her son wanted to have a father. She can’t help but think about Jace.

‘Am I being unfair to my son?’ she asked herself. ‘I know I want to get revenge for what he did to me, but what about my son? Should I continue my plan and deprive my son of the chance to have a father who will love him?’ Emerald shook her head and thought that what mattered to her the most was her son and that she would do anything to make him happy.

The three spent the whole day together like a family since Liam would leave the next day. They went to an arcade and made sure that Ace enjoyed it. From afar, they look like a happy family, and anyone who sees them would think that way.

Emerald and Ace sent Liam to the airport with Daryl the following day. They went home afterward since young Morgan wanted to talk to her son.

“You know that I love you, right?” Emerald asked Ace.

“Yes, Mommy.” The boy replied in a low voice. He thought Emerald was mad at him because he still called Liam Daddy.

“Do you want to meet your father?” she asked. The boy looked at Emerald, shocked. It was the first time young Morgan talked to him about meeting his father.

“But I know it will only hurt you,” Ace replied sadly. He wanted to know who his father was, but because of his love for his mother, he decided to find his father’s love for someone he knew had not hurt Emerald. “Don’t worry, Mom, I will only call Daddy Liam that way if it was only us.”

Emerald sighed heavily. After everything that happened to her in the past, she promised herself that she would not let Jace enter her life again unless she showed him how much she had changed and took her revenge.

“You don’t have to think about me, baby. You’re the most important person in my life, and I am willing to do anything for you.” Emerald said before hugging her son. She was teary-eyed, thinking about how Ace thinks about her feelings more than his.

All her life, she longed for her family’s love and affection, and then Jace came and thought that he was going to be the one who would fill that void in her heart after marrying him. But that didn’t happen, and she didn’t want her son to suffer the same. “I will try to make things okay with you, I promise.”

The next few weeks have been hectic for Emerald in the SoftWare Group. She knew that their project would take months to finish. Still, she wanted to complete it as soon as possible before she told Jace about their son, hoping he would accept Ace before she told her son about his father to prevent the boy from being disappointed just in case Jace wouldn’t accept him.

Emerald is in her office checking the final draft of the game’s heroes and heroines when Jace comes in. “Can’t you knock?” she asked, raising a brow at him.

“When are you going to tell me?” Jace asked angrily.

“What?” Emerald asked as well. But Jace’s face hardened, and he tightened his grip on the edge of her table as if controlling his anger. She didn’t know what he was talking about. For the past weeks, their quarreling has been a constant occurrence in the company. Jace continuously opposes her decision, only to agree in the end.

“You had no idea, or you didn’t have a plan to tell me?” Jace asked again.

“If you can’t tell me what exactly I did wrong, just leave. I don’t want to talk to you, how much more when I see you? You keep bugging and angering me, so if you have nothing good to say, you better leave my office now.”

“Are you still seeing that bastard?” he asked.

“I don’t know any bastards other than you, so tell me who you are referring to,” Emerald asked angrily.

“This is my last warning to you, Emerald. Stop seeing that man, or you won’t like what I will do to him.” Jace said before he turned and left. Young Morgan was speechless because she had no idea who he was referring to. As far as she knows, Liam left the country, and there was no man close to her other than him. He is also the only man that Jace sees her with.

Emerald continued her work and left because she needed to be in the ACEGame office. Although she was committed to doing the project with Jace, she still didn’t forget her responsibility in her own company.

Creep, Daryl, Elise, and Emerald were in the meeting area of the ACEGame building. “Everything is ready, and you will be introduced on Friday. I already instructed the admin to make the occasion simple and not to spend too much.”

“Thank you, Elise,” Emerald replied.

“I also talked to our new suppliers, and the contract signing will take place the day after tomorrow,” Elise informed her. “You are right. They agreed immediately after I told them about the security and the database we can provide them.”

“Of course, every establishment and business wants their business to be protected.” Emerald replied, “You will be attending the contract signing as well. I will only show up for the inauguration of the new CEO.”

“M.” Daryl said, “As you already know, there has been a delay with the JHBank. Jack Higginson stumbled on a problem and decided to handle it first. But according to him, it was all settled, and he was ready to continue working with us.”

“That’s good.”

“But he wants to talk to the CEO,” Creep said.

“Why? Didn’t you tell him that you’re the one who has the authority and the decision-maker?” Emerald asked, confused.

“Yes, and they acknowledge that. But he discovered that you are the CEO and want to discuss other matters.” Creep replied.

“What do you think?” Young Morgan asked curiously.

“It’s up to you. I don’t see any reason not to see him since Jace already knows who you are. But I also think that it’s unnecessary to talk to you since I was the one who would make the decision.”

“Exactly my point.” Emerald agreed.

“I think it was for personal reasons.” Daryl voices out what Creep couldn’t say.

“Personal reason?” Emerald raised a brow.

“You know, about you and Jace,” Creep said. Emerald sighs and thinks that it’s inevitable.

“M, I also think that once they find out about Ace, they will be more eager to talk with you,” Elise added.

“Are you saying they might accept my son in their family?”Content bel0ngs to Nôvel(D)r/a/ma.Org.

“Well, Ace is a Higginson. Although he doesn’t carry their name, it doesn’t change the fact that he’s Jace’s son.” Elise answered. Emerald looked down, feeling hesitant.

‘Are they going to accept my son?’ she asked herself.

“M, I think it’s time to tell Jace about your son. He has the right to know.” Elise encouraged her. She has been doing that ever since, but Emerald is stubborn and scared for Ace.

“Ace never asked me about his father after the first time he saw me hurt when he had his tantrums, crying for his Dad. So, he calls Liam Daddy instead.”

“Think about it, M. We know how much you suffer with your husband and family. But since you decided to have Ace, you should give him what he needs. At his age, he needs his father as well.” Elise said.

Because of what her friend told her, she informed them about her plan to tell Jace about their son after they finished the project. Before, she had only been thinking about it, but now she has decided to do it. ‘Yes, it’s for my son.’

“Are you sure about this?” Jace asked,

“Yes, man,” Kyle replied. “Your wife owns 60% of the Morgan’s grocer now.”

“Is she for real? Their company is at its lowest; she only wasted her money there!” Jace exclaimed.

“I think they know about that and think about it thoroughly. Maybe they have a solution for the problem.” Kyle replied while Jace was massaging his temple.

“I’m a businessman, Kyle. I would have invested in them again if I saw some potential. But there’s none. What is that woman thinking?”

“So, are you going to attend? You still have your share there.” Kyle asked.

“What else? I had to be by her side even if I didn’t want to. What if Emerson and Merly or even Emerose did something to her?” Jace answered, concerned.

“I don’t think they will be able to hurt the new Emerald. I mean, you saw her. You talk to her and know how feisty she is now.” Kyle said with admiration, but Jace just shook his head. He still wouldn’t let his guard down. He knew what kind of people the Morgans were, so he had better be prepared for what was to come during the inauguration of the new CEO.
