The Contracted Ever After (Cordelia and Ronan)

Chapter 56

Chapter 56

After Ronan vented his rage on Cordelia following his rant, she woke up battered and bruised.

Cordelia was pissed. She didn't believe she was at fault, but that Ronan was too quick to believe

Deanna's words.

When she got up, she didn't utter a word to Ronan but packed a big shopping bag with some of her

clothes and even sneakily took the marriage certificate.

She decided she wouldn't be coming home that night.

Then, she hailed a cab to the hospital, not letting Ronan play the chauffeur.

In the hospital corridor, she ran into Deanna again, who was still on filming.

Cordelia just stood there.

Deanna could tell Cordelia wasn't having a good day but wasn't sure if it had something to do with

Ronan.

After all, she had spilled the beans to Ronan on Monday, so if he was going to blow his top, he should

have done so by now.

"Ms. Deanna, I can speak for myself, no need for you to play the messenger. I know you've got a thing

for him, maybe one day, I'll happily hand him over to you." With that, Cordelia walked away, leaving a

bunch of bewildered onlookers.

Being seen as a lady of grace and poise, Deanna had to cover for Cordelia, "That's my sister, she's a

bit hot-headed, sorry for the drama, let's get back to shooting the next scene."

Deanna watched as Cordelia entered a patient's room with a cold stare.

She had seen the room Cordelia's mom was in before, the patient's name on the medical card read:

Shelley.

Deanna remembered the name.

...

Cordelia decided to stay in her mom's ward for the day and head back to her dorm room the next day.

Her mom had a private room with an extra bed for companions, so she could chat with Trina and

wouldn't feel lonely.

Deanna sent Ronan a message on Messenger, "What's up with your wife today? She came to the

hospital asking what I had told you and even mentioned divorcing you and handing over you to me.

Everyone there was laughing at me, so I had to say she's my sister."

Sitting on his couch at home, Ronan's face icy when he saw the message, a vein in his temple

noticeably throbbed.

He told his grandpa that Cordelia wouldn't be coming home that night, because she had to care for her

ailing mother in case her condition suddenly worsened.

His grandpa was understanding, "That's understandable, a nurse can't solve all problems."

But Ronan's mind was elsewhere.

On Monday, as soon as Cordelia started work, her phone began to ring.

"Come here." It was Ronan's voice.

Cordelia was still pissed at Ronan.

He wanted her to come over, but she defied him, especially since Mondays were always busy.

After waiting for a while without seeing Cordelia, Ronan decided to call Jordan.

"Get Cordelia to my office."

Jordan felt a chill run down his spine, he knew Mr. Evans only asked him because he couldn't get her

himself. If Jordan couldn't get her either, it would be his fault.

"Cordelia, Mr. Evans wants you in his office." Jordan cautiously said to Cordelia.

"I'm working on this account." Cordelia was fully focused on the complex account in front of her.

Jordan felt headache, and he called Ronan to tell him Cordelia was busy with an account.

Ronan took a deep breath, trying to control his temper, "Tell her, if she doesn't come, she won't get the

money!"

Jordan didn't understand, he thought it was a joke.

As the Chief Financial Officer, he was unexpectedly playing messenger on a Monday morning.

He relayed the message to Cordelia, who was clearly taken aback. She marked the account she was

working on and headed to Ronan's office.

Cordelia knew that the "money" Ronan referred to was the agreed-upon balance payment of $500,000.

She had put in so much effort. She couldn't just give up now, could she?

Buying a computer didn't put a dent in her pocket, she wasn't short on cash now, but she wasn't willing NôvelDrama.Org holds © this.

to let go!

After all, the $500,000 was agreed upon beforehand.

She knocked on the door of Ronan's office.
