Chapter 66
Chapter 66
Cordelia cast her eyes down, feeling a bit down in the dumps. She thought about how he would call
Deanna dozens of times a day, even chasing her overseas. With these thoughts, she suddenly felt she Content is © by NôvelDrama.Org.
didn't really matter to him.
He'd been in Birchwood for five days and only called Cordelia once, asking about Barney.
Cordelia realized she couldn't expect much from this marriage. After all, it was a contractual marriage
and it was bound to end one day.
So why should she say "miss him" to make him happy?
"Not at all!" Cordelia emphasised again.
Ronan's face darkened.
When they got home, Ronan brought out everything he bought for Barney, saying he'd been on a
business trip to Southern Ridge.
Cordelia thought to herself: What a liar! He clearly went to Birchwood. Probably because he knew
Barney didn't think much of Deanna, he didn't mention anything related to her.
He really knows how to consider people's feelings!
At night, back in the room, Ronan was eager to get intimate with Cordelia.
Thinking about what Deanna had said that day, Cordelia lost interest.
She was merely a tool in this contractual marriage.
Besides, he protected Deanna in front of Barney just now, not even letting Barney know where he had
been.
Cordelia lost all interest.
"Not in the mood?" Ronan whispered in her ear, as he lay on top of her.
His voice was deep and sexy, making Cordelia's ears itch all the way to her heart.
"I don’t feel like doing it today," Cordelia said, her eyes downcast in the dark.
Ronan's breath grazed Cordelia's face and she dodged.
"Why? Are you really pregnant?" Ronan asked, puzzled.
"No. Just don't want to," Cordelia said again.
"If you're not, then what's there to be afraid of?" Ronan didn't give up.
Cordelia was uncooperative, even a bit resistant, leading to her waking up late the next day.
Ronan seemed unaffected. He got up early as usual.
In fact, after he finished freshening up and came back to the room neatly dressed to get his watch, he
saw Cordelia getting up from bed, her body wobbling a bit.
He stared at Cordelia, laughing heartily.
"What's so funny? It's all your fault!" Cordelia said angrily, "You're all ready for work and didn't even
wake me up."
"Didn't want to disturb your sleep. After all, getting only three to four hours of sleep a night is pretty
tough," Ronan teased.
"I'm going back to the dorm tonight!"
"You dare!"
Cordelia sighed helplessly, got up and freshened up. By the time she got to the office, she was indeed
late.
Jordan didn't say anything, he just coughed lightly.
Cordelia didn't take any leave because of the abortion, she didn't know how to explain to Ronan and
felt anxious.
People in the office were gossiping.
"Ronan came back yesterday, they probably, you know, stayed up late."
"But she just had an abortion, didn’t she? Doesn't Ronan know? You're not supposed to have sex for a
month after an abortion."
Cordelia was very tired and didn't enjoy office gossip. She forced herself to work hard, but her mind felt
like it was filled with paste.
The gossip went in one ear and out the other.
She had become accustomed to the gossip in the office.
Deanna walked into Ronan's office with a can of chicken soup in her hand.
As soon as she entered, her face immediately showed an anxious expression, "Ronan, do you know
which office Cordelia is in? Your company is so big, I don't know where to find her."
Deanna is usually a very elegant woman and rarely shows such anxiety.
"Are you looking for her?" Ronan asked, surprised.
"Yes, what's going on between you two? Surgery is very damaging to the body." Deanna said urgently,
"Tell me quickly, which office is she in?"
Ronan found it strange, Cordelia always said she was fine.
"Who told you she had surgery?" Ronan asked Deanna with a frown.
"You don't know? You don't know about something this important?" Deanna looked at him as if he were
an alien.
"What happened to her?!"
"I'm currently filming a scene that requires a hospital setting. I went to the maternity hospital and saw
Cordelia coming out of the obstetrics department. She looked pale and weak, and she was holding a
medical record. I asked the doctor later, and he said she had an abortion. The baby was three weeks
old." As Deanna spoke, she began to cry, "If it were me, I would never choose to terminate the
pregnancy. Surgery is definitely very harmful to the body. Can you pass her this chicken soup for me?"
With that, Deanna wiped her tears and left.
It seemed as if she didn't want to see this tragedy any longer.
Deanna's acting was so superb that no one doubted her story!
Deanna had thought everything through. Whether Cordelia was pretending to be pregnant to win favor
or was actually pregnant but chose to terminate, as long as Deanna said the opposite, it would
definitely arouse Ronan's suspicion. Even if Cordelia didn't have surgery, she just had a medical record
of the procedure.
Sure enough, Ronan began to have doubts!
