Chapter 406
Tristan was utterly flabbergasted!
The Gallagher mansion towered with five stories, and including the rooftop garden, it stood six stories tall. A fall from such a height was certain death!
Noella pulled out her phone and dialed Millie.
"Millie, go check out your rooftop."
The mention of someone threatening to jump had Millie losing her cool. She and Jasper dashed to the rooftop.
There, a teenage girl stood perilously close to the edge - Chloe Gallagher from the fourth branch of the family.
"Chloe, are you out of your mind?! If you jump, you're not surviving this!"
Chloe shook her head, trembling as she turned on her phone's live stream.
"I don't want to live anymore. Why is it that everything good is never meant for me? You all just know how to bully me!"
"None of the Gallaghers are good people. Uncle Jeff came knocking on my door late at night. I don't want to live anymore!" Uncle Jeff, she mentioned, was Millie's father!
Chloe was on the verge of breaking down, clutching her head on the rooftop, ready to leap at any moment.
"Millie, I can't stand being in this family for another day! My life is ruined! If I jump, I'll be free from it all!"
"Christina once said that if you jump, all your troubles go away..."
Millie clenched her fists.
Her voice trembling, she forced herself to calm down.
"It's not your fault, come down. Whatever you mentioned... I know, because I've been through it too! Come down, no matter what happens, I'll help you!"
Jasper's eyes widened in disbelief and shock at Millie's words.
Millie continued, "Come down, Chloe, listen to me. With your sister here, we can solve anything."
Chloe shook her head in agony.
"It's no use, Millie. You've had it tough too. This place... it's not a home. If I don't jump, my parents will just trade me off to those old creeps as bargaining chips. I refuse."
The Gallagher children were forced to grow up too fast.
Suddenly, Jasper spoke up.
"You could leave the country, escape all this. Don't you want to see those who hurt you brought to justice? My law firm can make it happen, fulfill your dreams!"
A flicker of hope sparked in Chloe's eyes.
Jasper added, "If you don't trust Millie, trust the Schnabels. You know, even your grandpa tries to suck up to us."
"It's the wrongdoers who should be punished, not yourself!"
Chloe murmured, bewildered, "...Is that true? Would someone really help me?"
"Yes, look at Millie now; she's made it. You can too."
Millie was seen as a thorn in the side by the Gallagher elders, jealous that she seemed to have taken what should've been their children's. But to the younger Gallaghers, no one was more formidable than Millie.
Downstairs, Tristan set down his binoculars, worriedly saying, "Honey, maybe call the cops? That kid's so young, a fall would be disastrous!" "The police are on their way."
Noella looked up to the rooftop figure, who seemed about the age of a high schooler, much like Millie when they first met.
The way the Gallaghers raised their kids left few with a sound state of mind.
Millie had managed these years with Noella's medical treatments and venting her frustrations in the boxing ring.
On the third floor's balcony, Christina, freshly changed, stood smirking.
"Chloe, are you jumping or what? You've been all talk. If you don't have the guts, just give up!"
"I knew it. You don't have the
courage to leave the Gallaghers. You
deserve to be haunted by the
n
family's perverts for life. Might as well not jump and just cozy up with Uncle Jeff..."
Hearing Christina's vile words, the light in Chloe's eyes vanished.
"Chloe, don't trust anyone. Only death will punish them. Your suffering ends with your death. Otherwise, you'll be mocked every living moment!"
"Don't believe me? Check the comments on your live stream."
Chloe, hands trembling, opened the live stream only to see comments urging her to jump or mocking her indecision.
The harsh words filled her ears, a ringing noise overwhelming her thoughts.
Hopeless, Chloe smiled silently at Millie, whispered goodbye, and leapt.
"Chloe!"
Millie screamed, rushing forward, her fingers grazing Chloe's clothes, but a step too late.
Downstairs, Tristan and Sienna also cried out in horror!
A gust of wind passed, and Noella, already positioned below, caught Chloe in a swift move, though the impact dislocated her arm with a sickening crack.
Tristan, mind blank with fear, rushed to them.
"Noella! Oh my God! Why would you just rush in like that!"
Noella calmly replied, "I'm okay, and so is she."
Looking up at Millie, tears streaming down her face, Noella managed a weak smile.
"What's the big deal? Stop crying, I've got this!"
Millie's tears fell even harder.
Jasper had pulled her downstairs before she even realized.
The car hadn't fully stopped when Palmer leaped out, rushing towards Noella.
"To the hospital!"
Noella's forehead was beaded with sweat, and a sharp pain radiated from her wrist. She looked pale as she shook her head at the person before her. "It's okay, let's just check on her first."
Chloe was completely stunned!This content © 2024 NôvelDrama.Org.
Despite the scrapes and cuts on Noella's wrists and back, Chloe, who had taken the leap, was miraculously unscathed!
Millie rushed to Noella's side and, without hesitation, slapped Chloe across the face.
"I've told you time and again not to be so reckless. We've lived with the Gallaghers for years; why choose such a dramatic exit?"
The slap brought Chloe back to reality.
"Millie... Is Ms. Schnabel okay? Why did she save me... I'm so sorry, this is all my fault!"
Palmer carefully examined Noella's injuries before lifting her in his arms.
"We need to get you to the hospital, just to be on the safe side."
Turning her head to face Chloe, Noella managed a weak smile and softly said, "You remind me of Millie when she was younger. Just like her, you must seize control of your own destiny."
"Even as girls, we possess boundless energy to forge ahead."
