Chapter 396
Chapter 396
Joseph went off to meet Gavin at the Wolf Group, who asked someone to bring them good wine. He acted as if he really invited him over for drinks.
As they were drinking, Gavin said a lot to Joseph. They talked for about two hours, but he did not even once mention anything about Paige.
Joseph was confused. Did he guess wrongly?
So the reason he asked him over was not because of Paige?
The only reason he came was because he thought Gavin was going to talk to him about Paige. But since he was going on about irrelevant things, he did not have the patience to continue their conversation. He took a look at his watch and said, "It's getting late, Mr. Saunders. I shouldn't disturb your rest any longer."
Gavin's initial plan was to lure Joseph away from Paige. Guessing that Hayden was done with speaking to Paige, he agreed to let Joseph leave. "Alright, Joseph. Have a safe ride home. I'll have another drink with you tomorrow!"
On the way home from Wolf Group, Joseph felt that it was weird for Gavin to invite him for a drink without a specific reason. What was his real intention?
Once he returned, he saw a cup of tea on the coffee table. Did someone come by?
Joseph called out in confusion, "Paige! Paige!"
He didn't hear any replies, so he rushed upstairs and pushed open their bedroom door. He didn't see Paige, but her phone was on the bedside table. He guessed that she was in the bathroom and grinned mischievously as he opened the bathroom door.
As expected, Paige was in the bathtub. It was filled to the brim with water and she was immersed in it. The water was still pouring out of the tap, and the bathroom was fogged with steam. Paige's face was red and puffy from it. She turned in surprise when she heard the door open.
"You're back?"
"Yes! Did someone come over? Why is there a cup of tea on the table?"
"No one came. I had too much wine, so I wanted to sober up," Paige lied.
"Is that so? Does your head still hurt?"
Joseph believed what she said.
"No, I feel much better now."
"Let me give you a nice massage!" Joseph said as he took off his clothes.
"No, I don't want you to..." Paige's soft voice sounded like an invitation to Joseph, so he couldn't stand it and pulled off all his clothes eagerly. He kissed her frantically and asked, "Did you miss me?"
Paige was out of breath after being kissed by Joseph. She pushed him away and sucked in a mouthful
of air. "Joseph, are you really the president of Wolf Group?"
"Why did you suddenly ask this?"
"I just want to confirm this."
"That's right. I really am the president. 100% true!" Joseph smiled and leaned in to kiss her.
Paige closed her eyes and turned away.
"Why do you love me? What part of me do you like?"
"I like everything about you!" Joseph felt that there was something strange with her.
"Paige, did something happen? Are you alright?" Exclusive © content by N(ô)ve/l/Drama.Org.
"I just find it strange. Since you're the president of the Wolf Group, you can have any woman you desire. Why did you choose me?"
"Are you crazy? What reason do I need to love someone? Even though you're silly and dumb, you are the prettiest woman in the world!" Joseph smiled and answered.
Paige looked into his eyes and he did not try to dodge her. His gaze was full of tenderness, and she knew that he would never lie to her. He had no reason to lie, so she decided not to trust what Lamont said about Joseph getting revenge.
There were thousands of ways to get revenge if he wanted to.
So he probably still didn't know anything about his mother. If he did, would he still smile so tenderly at her?
Paige didn't dare think about it. She was addicted to his gentleness and love, and she didn't want to let go of him.
She would never let go of him for the rest of her life!
Paige didn't believe that her mother would be so cruel to a pregnant lady too. Even if it was really an accident, she didn't believe it.
There must be a misunderstanding about this incident.
Paige persuaded herself to trust that Natalie was innocent. The only way she could stay with Joseph was to convince herself that Natalie was guiltless.
Joseph didn't know what Paige was thinking. With her in his arms, he could not think straight nor control himself any longer.
He kissed Paige and murmured unclearly, "Paige, let's have kids. I want to have lots of children with you!"
Paige did not refuse, and she hugged him tightly.....
This time was different from the past, and she was exceptionally clear-headed the entire time.
After their tryst ended, Joseph carried her back to the room and they hugged each other. She laid on Joseph's arm as if it were her pillow, and there was no space between them as they lay on the bed.
Paige didn't feel sleepy at all. She just closed her eyes and laid peacefully in his arms.
Joseph's breathing gradually calmed down.
She lifted her head and looked at his charming face quietly.
"What should I do, Joseph? No matter what the reason is, I don't want to let you go! Even if you are going to hate me, I will definitely marry you! I don't care if you have any motives. As long as you don't let me go, I won't either!"
In the bar, Abbie was drinking in the booth unhappily. She was in a foul mood, so she drank like a sailor. The two young men were sitting in the other booth kept turning to look at her as they saw this.
Abbie's facial features were delicate, and she had a curvy figure. Elegance radiated from her, and the two men got interested in her.
Seeing that Abbie had been sitting there for hours alone, they came up with a wicked idea.
"If I can enjoy a night with such a beautiful lady, it would definitely feel like heaven!"
"Yeah, why don't we try?"
"We'll see. It's going to be midnight soon. By then, she'll be so drunk that she won't know what's happening. If no one comes for her, well take her away."
They waited in anticipation after their discussion. When it was finally 12 o'clock, no one came to pick her up. They saw that she had drunk too much that she laid her head on the table without moving.
The two men glanced at each other and they walked to Abbie.
One of them reached out his hand and nudged Abbie, "Miss, wake up!"
Abbie raised her intoxicated eyes and looked at the man who nudged her. With a slurred voice, she said, "Who are you?"
"You are drunk. We'll give you a ride home. Where do you live?" The man asked hypocritically.
"My home? Where is my house? I forgot!" Abbie frowned. Her brain was empty and she could not remember.
"Try to think about it carefully. The bar is going to close soon. We can send you home."
"I don't want you to drive me. Both of you. don't look like you're good people..." Abbie pushed the man away and said, "You're just like Michael Davis, a b*stard!"
As she spoke, she stood up unsteadily. "I know what you guys are thinking! You are just trying to flirt with me! Do you have money or status? You want to hit on me? Stop dreaming!"
The two men became dejected as she scolded them. Abbie did not care about how they felt and stood up unsteadily to leave. But after staggering a few steps, her head was spinning so much that she couldn't walk anymore. "Today... I'll give both of you a chance! Come! Come help me outside!"
The two men were overjoyed. They immediately walked over to help her, one on each side.
In a corner of the bar, a man dressed in black saw this and immediately picked up his phone. "Sir, Miss Cook was just helped out of the bar by two men."
