Chapter 295 Unexpected Intimacy and Unsettling Changes

"Are you trying to play games with me?" Nathaniel's face darkened as he looked at Frey.

"I've been serious from the beginning, Frey. I didn't kill Jacob, though I'd like to. I wouldn't mind taking down his father too!"This content is © NôvelDrama.Org.

Frey's face showed surprise at his revelation.

Nathaniel sneered, "So, in your eyes, am I just someone who deserves punishment?"

"My mindset has changed. I used to hate you just as much as you hated me. I don't want us to continue hurting each other."

"Falling in love with you is fate, Frey. You must feel something for me too, right?"

Frey's gaze remained cold, and she stayed silent.

Seeing her expression, Nathaniel felt a pang of unease. Was it so hard for her to overcome her reservations?

He took a deep breath and continued, "Frey, I just want to save you. Even with my injuries, you'll need to look after me for a few days." Frey pressed her lips together.

Did he really need someone to serve him? Surely, Mr. Nathaniel could have anyone attend to him with a snap of his fingers.

Still, seeing his burns, she couldn't bring herself to send him away.

"How many days will you stay?" Frey managed to ask, her voice tinged with frustration.

Nathaniel chuckled. He rarely smiled, but when he did, it had a certain charm. He stood up and walked to Frey, leaning in to speak softly, "I'll shower first. This issue gives me a headache. I don't want to talk about it now."

He leaned in and gently kissed Frey's heart, fighting the urge to pull her into his arms again.

He knew he had to be patient and persistent, despite the emotional chasm between them. He wanted more than just her body now. He craved her heart, even if it was scarred.

The next morning marked the start of their awkward lives.

Frey had slept poorly and woke up past nine o'clock, making her late for work. Thankfully, her company had started a new system, so she wasn't fired for her tardiness.

In front of Nathaniel, however, she maintained her composure, making sure not to reveal any cracks.

As she opened the door, a delightful aroma greeted her.

She walked into the kitchen to find Nathaniel preparing breakfast. He had eggs frying on the stove, with an array of bread, jams, cheeses, and fruits like strawberries and grapes neatly arranged. Even the milk was out

The meal was clearly ordered, but Nathaniel had arranged everything himself. He placed an omelet in front of Frey, then took off his apron and sat across from her.

“Eat quickly. I'll clean up after. You're already late. I called Mandy and told her not to fire you. If she does, her company won't last a day in Saeville." "Yeah,” Frey murmured, a mix of gratitude and irritation in her tone.

After finishing the omelet, Nathaniel wiped his hands and observed Frey with a more serious expression. "You don't need to be on guard against me. There's no need for a triple lock on the bedroom door or blocking it with a chair. Do you think I'm a beast?"

Frey met his gaze. "What do you think?"

Once breakfast was over, Nathaniel insisted on taking Frey's car to the company. He claimed that the Technologent Group and Andala Corp weren't far apart, so he could drop her off at the office building before heading to his own destination. He even took a five-minute detour to Frey's company.

no

Frey was baffled by his insistence. He left his luxury car behind to ride in her modest vehicle, which was cramped and uncomfortable for someone of his stature.
