It must be the weird girl
Lily slept through her alarm the following day, after the exciting night with the officers and her scheming roommates. She had gone to sleep exhausted but with a triumphant smile on her face after making the three bow to her. She stretched and noticed that her limbs had somehow become sore as if she had been running all night.
Her throat felt dry and hoarse, she frowned and took a sip of water to moisturise her throat before trying but failing to get up from the bed. With pursed lips, she placed her fingers on her wrist to check if her pulse was weak but she found out they were stronger than they had ever been, which could only mean she was healthy.
‘But why am I sore all over?’ she mused with a frown and got out of bed after much struggle. She prepared a warm bath to soak in and ease her sore muscles, letting out a sigh of relief as the warm water engulfed her body, she relaxed and closed her eyes.
As she remembered the event from the previous night, a smile bloomed on her face and she let out a mocking chuckle. “It’s truly funny dealing with these low lives” she muttered to herself with several thoughts running through her mind and continued soaking.
{System upgrade is complete!}
{Host’s physical appearance upgrade is complete!}
{Host’s mental capacity upgrade is complete!}
{New system mission generating…}
{New system function, ‘Store’ opened}
{Lucky star system upgrade mission, first phase complete. Mission reward: The original owner’s memory and skills will be passed to the host}
Lily winced at the barrage of notifications that filled her mind but it soon turned into a full-blown groaning as the system began passing the original owner’s memories and skills to her.
She watched with her eyes closed, the images of Lily’s life from when she was born until the day she passed and Victoria took over.
{Miss Lily, did you miss me?} The system exclaimed excitedly after Lily had absorbed all the memories poured into her mind. She remained silent with her eyes closed and brows furrowed. Several complicated thoughts washed through her, followed by multiple questions about the system and its origin.
“What are you?” She voiced out and the excited system froze before giving a programmed response.
{I am Lucky Star System level one! A system programmed to fulfil the host’s dying wish and help you live your second chance life to the fullest} it replied proudly which only made Lily’s frown deepen.Nôvel(D)ra/ma.Org exclusive © material.
“Then how can you make things appear out of nowhere? And communicate in my mind, I know for sure there is no chip in my head and even now, according to the technology, there is no chip that allows others to communicate with telepathy, so cut the crap and tell me what you are!” She demanded, her voice firm and filled with curiosity.
She felt a sudden throb in her head as a red alarm screen appeared, floating in front of her with a bold warning. “NOT ENOUGH AUTHORITY. UPGRADE FOR MORE AUTHORITY” As she finished reading it, the screen disappeared and the throbbing followed.
{Miss Lily, what happened just now? I seemed to have lost connection with you for a moment} The system’s confused voice sounded and Lily chuckled.
“Interesting! So interesting” she mused and got out of the bathtub. Her hands trembled and her eyes widened in shock as she saw the dark colour of the water she had been soaking in. Before she could ask, the system had started explaining with a smug tone.
{Due to the system upgrade, the host’s physical and mental attributes were also upgraded so that you will be able to withhold the system’s new function. With your upgrading, the toxins all over your body had been washed out, hence the dark water}
“Is it the same as the girl from yesterday?” She asked and got in the shower.
{Yes, but only a quarter of the body toxins in her body were washed out}
Lily checked the time after getting out of the bathroom to see that it was already midday and she had missed the only class she had for the day. She got into bed and picked up her laptop to work but was stopped by the sound of the system issuing a task.
{Daily mission: practise your basic sketching skills for one hour- 10 points}
{2- practise your basic hand sewing skill for one hour- 10 points}
{3-Practise your basic programming and hacking skills for one hour- 20 points}
“I already gained the original owner’s memories and skills. Do I still need to practise?” she asked in annoyance.
{Yes! Those skills belong to the past Lily and although you are living in her body, both of you are quite different. You will need to practise the skills to become a prominent figure in the industry. You can’t be lazy!}
Lily’s eyes twitched in annoyance but she decided to get started on it, fearing the system would be as strict with its punishment the same way it was with rewards. She placed the laptop back on the table and began to practise, starting with the basic skill… sketching.
While Lily was having a peaceful day in her room, Celina, living across the city, could not withhold her excitement as she skipped down the stairs with bright excited eyes.
“Young miss, stop running down the stairs, madam would not be happy if she caught you doing it” Mia, the housekeeper voiced out with a disapproving frown. “It’s fine, mother isn’t home anyway, is cousin still around? Where is he?” She demanded hastily, her eyes filled with undisguised hope.
Mia sighed helplessly and turned to go back into the kitchen. “Young master Mark is in the art room, he said he doesn’t want to be disturbed…” Before Mia could finish her words, the excited Celina bounced off in the direction of the art room.
“What did you do to me?” Celina asked as she pushed open the door with a loud bang. Mark, who had been having a video conference with his programming team, lifted his head and glared at her before muting the video. The subordinate gave a knowing smile, thinking the lady’s voice belonged to their boss’ secret lover. They all kept quiet and waited for him to come back.
“What are you talking about? Aren’t you fine now?” He asked curiously and gave her a once over. He decided to stay with the William family last night after bringing the little devil back from the hospital where the doctor had assured them she was fine.
He wasn’t so confident and knowing his aunt’s temperament, he decided to stay over and watch things through the night before returning to his home. Hearing her sudden question had put his heart on the fast lane.
“Look at my skin!” She exclaimed and brought her arms to his face. Mark squinted his eyes at the outstretched arms but found nothing out of place. “I see nothing” he muttered and Celina let out a huff before sitting on the chair opposite him.
“I forgot you are beauty blind! You couldn’t even see and appreciate beautiful skin!” She tutted. “Can you not see my skin become more healthy and beautiful?” She asked with an excited giggle. Mark massaged his nose bridge and let out an exasperated sigh.
“What has that got to do with me?” He asked helplessly. “Your skin has always been healthy, isn’t that why you are the top female model in your school, forget, I have work to do, go find someone else to bother” he pursued her and she pouted.
“I’m most familiar with my skin and I know something happened overnight. And the only person who I have been with is you and oh my god, the weird girl!” She exclaimed and jumped out of the chair.
“It must be the weird girl who gave me the drug! Or the drug! I’m going to find out!” She added and ran out of the art room. Mark shook his head and went back to work but not without musing at her words.
