“Drink this.” I accept the glass from Rowan as he slides me a glass of Jameson across my desk,
“Selena has cleaned up Vince as best she can and Fraction is questioning him now. I have warriors
watching Dragon’s Flame and the borders. We are stretched thin but we are making do.” I just drink
deeply from my glass and then slam it back down on the desk, Rowan doesn’t hesitate in pouring me
another.
“She’s gone, I won’t find her now.” I can even feel Storm’s depression leaking into me, he knows she’s
gone and he’s already mourning our loss. “I should have just gotten the water for her.” I can’t help but
feel like if I had just gotten out of bed and gotten Eva some water she would never have been taken.
“We think she saw Heath hurt and went out to help him, it’s not like she ran from you Cas. We will find
her and bring her home,” Rowan is trying his best at keeping me up beat but I know the likelihood of
finding Eva now is next to non-existent. I scented the area for myself, there was no scent out of place
and from what I can tell Eva was put in a vehicle in the driveway the same as Heath.
“You smelled the same thing as me, there wasn’t a single smell out of place.” Sipping at my drink I drop
my head just as a knock comes to the door. I can’t handle anything else on top of this already crushing
blow, I turn my chair so my back is to Rowan and the door.
“Now isn’t a good time Sally.” I hear Rowan whisper as I rub my hands. over my face and sigh deeply,
Storm is in turmoil, I can feel him

whirling around inside of me like a tornado. It’s making me dizzy and a little sick but that could also just
be how I feel without Eva.
“It’s just with
Eva and Heath missing I thought he should know that his mother didn’t come home last night,” Sally’s
voice is low like she
doesn’t want me to hear but I tune in the second I hear E, she
name, I
know I should be worried about Heath as well but honestly, I just want my mate back.
“Where is she?” Rowan asks her quickly, I hear the door squeak, so he’ s either opened it more or he’s
pulling it closed.
“I don’t know, the last time I saw her she was leaving for the night to meet Vince, she was all giddy
about something. I just assumed she was drunk,” I jump up from the chair as soon as she mentions
Vince, I don’t give Rowan time to move, I just grab his shoulder and launch him backwards. Sally looks
terrified as I pull the door fully open, she actually looks smaller than she ever has.
“She was with Vince?” Sally just nods her head as I try to calm my temper, “you’re sure?” Again Sally
just nods, I don’t say anything else as I push her aside and quickly run up the stairs. If my mother was
with Vince and he’s now in the cells then where the hell is my mother, my gut is telling me that my
mother had something to do with Eva and Heath but I try to stamp it down. I know she’s a cruel woman
but to steal my mate is just pure evil, if she had anything to do with this then I’ll see her blood on my
hands by the time it’s over.
I can feel Rowan behind me as I stomp across the garden, the blood patch from Heath has been
washed away, most likely it was one of the females. The lack of guard on the door doesn’t concern me,
if Rowan is to be believed we are stretched thin and with Fraction inside only a fool would try to enter.
“Cas, I can’t.” I look back to see Rowan standing at the door, his face is

lined with pain and his grip on the doorframe is the only thing keeping him from dropping to the floor. I
can feel Fraction’s Alpha aura but it’s only a mild concern to me, for Rowan it will be like the Alpha
himself is sitting on his shoulders.
“Stay there,” the words come out meaner than I intend but right now I don’t feel like I have full control of
myself. Pushing on into the cells I walk past the one with the rogue still chained in it and into the one
with Vince. I stop at the door and see he’s now sitting wrapped in a silver chain, his face looks a little
cleaner but it’s still all puffy and blo ody, Fraction is just casually leaning against the wall next to him. I
can feel his Alpha aura pulsing out but he’s not asking any questions, he actually looks almost bored of
the whole situation.
“Cas, had a few drinks?” Fraction pulls his phone from his pocket and smiles, I just nod my head as I
cross my arms over my chest.
“He said anything?” I don’t even try to hide the disgust in my tone as I spit on the floor at Vince’s feet,
his eyes are so swollen I can’t even tell if he’s conscious.
“Not yet but he will, I can keep this up all day. How long can you hold out Vince? You might have been
a Beta but we all know your wolf can’t stand up to me.” Fraction’s aura pulses again and I stagger for a
second, I look over at Fraction and he just raises a questioning eyebrow at me.
“You were with my mother last night, where is she?” I lean myself against the cell as I feel Fraction aura
start to weigh me down, shaking my head a little I try to regain control of myself.
“Answer him, I know you can speak, still have that wicked tongue in your mouth.” Fraction stands up
from the wall and walks over to Vince, he grabs the back of his head and pulls it back until a loud
scream comes from Vince’s mouth.

“Yes, I was with her.” Vince mutters, his words are barely understandable thanks to the swelling but I
hear him clearly enough.
“Did she take Eva?” Fraction looks at me in disbelief, he doesn’t know my mother like I do. “Did she
take my mate from me?” I clench my fists as I sag more against the cell door. Fraction’s aura is really
starting to affect me and I don’t understand why.
“She was Luna, she was meant to be Luna. You don’t know what she gave up to be the Luna of this
Pack, to put up with your Alpha. to forsake her mate!” Vince screams at me. I try to push myself off the All content © N/.ôvel/Dr/ama.Org.
cell door but the aura is stopping me from moving.
“My father was her mate, when he died she knew what would happen. She could have just moved
aside like any other ex-Luna.” Fraction looks like he’s about to start punching Vince, when his father
passed he took over Alpha and his mother became an ex-Luna. And what an ex-Luna she was, she
had nothing but kindness and support for those around her up until she was killed.
“He wasn’t her mate, you don’t become as twisted as me and her are unless you are kept close
together but unable to be together. It eats at you like a cancer, so close but never able to touch.” I
shake my head as my mind tries to rebel against what he’s telling me.
“My father was her mate?” This time I say the words as if they are a question even though I know them
to be true.
“No, I was, I am. She’s mine but unclaimed.” Fraction shoves Vince’s head forward with a slap for good
measure.
“Are you saying that you were Beta to the man who took your fated mate as his chosen mate?” I can
hear the disgust in Fraction’s tone, it’s an awful crime to take someone’s mate from them and this is
why. It makes for bitter, resentful wolves, it twists you up until there is

nothing left.
“Got my pup in her before he put a stop to it though.” Vince sounds almost proud as I lean over and
throw up everything in my stomach. The alcohol comes back up like a burning fire as it falls from my
mouth. I can feel it splashing against my legs but I can’t stop it.

“Cas? What the hell happened?” I feel Rowan’s hands on my shoulder is pulling me backwards, it’s
only once I’m out of the cell that I realise Fraction aura has lessened.
“He’s just had a bomb dropped on him.” I appreciate Fraction not telling Rowan about Vince. I’ve barely
registered it myself, I’m not ready for others to know.
“My mother helped, she helped take Eva and Heath.” I gulp for air as Rowan lets me go and I drop to
the floor, “she’ll make sure she dies. We have to find her Rowan. I want to know every business
Jeremy owns between here and Seattle. He has to have her at one of them.” I look up at Rowan and
beg him with my eyes to do this for me. I don’t have it in me to even get off the floor right now.
“I’ll be back,” he looks up at Fraction. “Don’t leave him alone.” Fraction just nods as Rowan runs from
the cells, I pray to the Goddess. that he finds something. He has to.
