Chapter 39 The Tweet
Liam went stupefied when he heard that.
He was not one of those ignorant guys who did not know that women had periods. For some reason,
the thought of it just did not occur to him just now.
It was hard for Liam to describe his feeling at the moment—it was a mixture of awkwardness,
confusion, and joy of knowing something private to Amber.
Thinking that things couldn’t get any worse after she told Liam the truth, Amber appeared considerably
calmer. She scowled at him and snapped, “Let me go now!”
Liam, who was jolted back to his senses by her angry stare, realized he still had her in his arms.
With his face burning with embarrassment, he quickly put her down on the bed and tucked her in. Just
as he was about to leave, he found Amber staring at him with a sly smile.
“What’s wrong?” Liam felt uneasy under her stare. He stopped himself from touching his face just in
time when he remembered his hands were still covered with blood.
Amber, who decided to pull his leg, beckoned him over. “Come over here. There’s something I want to
tell you.”
Liam, who was used to give commands to people who work for him, was not used to it when things
happened the other way round. He approached Amber hesitatingly and asked, “What’s the matter?”
Smiling craftily, Amber stared at him and drawled, “Liam, your face was so red just now!”
Liam dashed out of her room in a flash to avoid the embarrassment.
Amber guffawed in delight while watching his back. Making fun of Liam killed two birds with one stone
—it alleviated the pain in her belly and gave her a good laugh when she saw the funny look on Liam’s
face.
She wondered whether the tabloids would believe it if she told them that Liam, the president of the
Watson Group, would blush when someone talked about periods in his presence!
Feeling elated because of her successful prank on Liam, Amber fumbled in the drawer in search of the
sanitary pads.
To her horror, the drawer was empty. She thought she still had some stashed inside it, but apparently,
she was wrong.
How was she supposed to go out and buy some in her current condition?
She ran her fingers through her hair in frustration.
Usually, the flow was heavier on the first day of her period. She dreaded to imagine how her bed and
her trousers would look like if she could not get her hands on some pads as soon as possible.
She took stock of her situation and decided there was only one way to save her out of the debacle.
Liam was restlessly reading his emails in the study room when he received a text.
His pulse raced faster when he saw it was from Amber. Without hesitation, he read her message.
“Could you please do me a favor and buy me some pads at the convenience store downstairs?”
When Liam stepped foot in the convenience store, he felt like a hero who was going to save the world.
It had been his first time buying sanitary pads for a woman in his life.
The last time he swung by a convenience store was ten years ago when he was still a student. After he
graduated from university, he no longer had to worry about his daily necessities because his
housekeepers would take care of them for him. Therefore, he had no idea how sanitary pads looked
like at all.
Pacing back and forth in front of the shelf filled with wet wipes, tissues, and cotton pads from various
brands, Liam was in a spin.
“Excuse me, could you please fetch me a packet of pads?” Liam, who was at his wit’s end, had no
choice but to turn to the shop assistant for help.
“Pads?” The shop assistant swooned over his good looks while asking curiously, “Do you need sanitary
pads or cotton pads?”
“I need those for girls when they’re having a period,” Liam answered with his voice strained with Belongs to (N)ôvel/Drama.Org.
embarrassment, which was rare because he was usually good at keeping his composure.
“I see. It’s sanitary pads that you’re looking for.” Staring at Liam’s handsome face, the shop assistant
was envious of his girlfriend.
“I can’t believe a hottie like him is also a sweet guy who buys sanitary pads for his girlfriend. I’m sure
his girl must be a rich and gorgeous one. Alas, a girl like me is never going to get such a good catch
like him!” she thought.
While Liam was paying for the pads at the cashier, the shop assistant secretly snapped a photo of him.
She went on to type a caption for the picture: “Look at that major babe who visits the store to buy
sanitary pads for his girlfriend! He looks so adorably awkward!”
She clicked on a button and tweeted it.
