Chapter 104 Tensions Running High
Frank could not help laughing as he gazed at his elder brother’s retreating back. “Hah! What an
exciting day,” he said. “Come, we should head home too.”
At that moment, Owen received a call as he stood on the balcony of Gold River Hotel. “Douglas’ family
has gone bankrupt.” Owen relayed the message in a low voice. “In fact, the police and the International
Trade Administration were here earlier.”
Merrick nodded. It seemed as though everything was destined to be from the moment Amanda called RêAd lat𝙚St chapters at Novel(D)ra/ma.Org Only
him.
To be able to run Gold River Hotel required a certain amount of cunning he happened to possess.
The person who could compel Amanda to make the call was undoubtedly of no ordinary status. Merrick
suspected that the matter likely had something to do with Christopher.
He silently watched the group that had disappeared from his sight. “It’s the right thing to do,” he
murmured. “All right, let’s go!”
Merrick would be a lot less calm if he were to know that Diane had made the call and that the entire
Globetrotter Lake belonged to Christopher.
Frank burst into laughter again as soon as he arrived home at Nirvana Residence. Even Cindy joined in
as they recounted the earlier incident in vivid detail.
Christopher gazed at his in-laws with helpless amusement while Julianna took Erisa upstairs to do her
homework and updated the child’s mother at the same time.
Not wishing to remain in the living room, Christopher returned to the garage alone.
Julianna examined Erisa’s homework and put her to sleep after deeming the work satisfactory at about
ten at night. She then went to the garage and found Christopher reading.
“Did you make that call today, Christopher?” Julianna asked at once.
It was inconvenient for Christopher to reveal his true identity, so he said, “I called Mr. Santos, and I
didn’t expect him to be the benefactor of the owner of Gold River Hotel many years ago. I thought I
could save some money, but it turned out I didn’t have to pay a dime after all.”
“Well, I guessed as much,” Julianna said with a proud smile. “Scarlett thought it was Douglas. She
didn’t even pause to consider.”
“By the way,” she added in a low voice, “we owe Mr. Santos a big one. Why don’t we find a chance to
thank him?”
“I don’t think that’s necessary,” Christopher said with a smile. “Santos Corporation also aspires to catch
up with Centurion Corporation through us.”
Julianna had no reason to doubt his words because she had never dreamed that her husband was the
chairman of Centurion Corporation.
“It’s getting late,” Christopher said gently. “Get some sleep. You’ll be busy tomorrow.”
Over the next few days, Julianna, Frank, and Cindy were kept as busy as he predicted with
preparations for their project with Centurion Corporation. Frank even invited staff from their old factory
for a demonstration.
Julianna’s aunt had returned from a business trip. As a result, Christopher did not need to pick Erisa up
any longer. Besides, Shirley’s practice had reopened. Despite Christopher’s prodigious medical skills,
he did not possess a medical certificate. Shirley had no choice but to rehire a doctor.
Upon his return at noon, Christopher saw Cindy when he entered the house, who let loose a verbal
tirade as soon as she saw him. “Where have you been all day? All you do is spend your time idly. Why
can’t you be more like my friend’s son-in-law?”
Christopher immediately smelled danger. “He went to work at Shirley’s clinic, Mom,” Julianna answered
hurriedly.
“Oh, so that’s what it is. I was so angry that I became confused. What an infuriating day.” At that, Cindy
hurried into the kitchen. Christopher noticed that Frank and Julianna looked similarly unhappy.
“What’s wrong? Did something happen?” he asked.
“What’s the point of even asking? That won’t fix anything. All you do is cause us trouble!” After venting
his frustration, Frank returned to his room in a huff. Despite feeling indignant at being spoken to this
way, Christopher did not show it on his face. “Did Centurion Corporation make things difficult for you?”
he asked Julianna in a low voice.
